Renowned Italian tactician Giovanni Trapattoni has pulled out of the race for the Ghana coaching post, according to reports in the Ghanaian media. 

The experienced 75-year-old is believed to have been shortlisted by the Ghana Football Association for the vacant Black Stars post along with Dutch trainer Patrick Kluivert and Italian Marco Tardelli.

But according to reports carried by the media on Monday afternoon, the former Republic of Ireland coach has officially written to the Ghana Football Association to drop him from their list of nominees for the job due to health issues.

The ageless tactician romantic CV seduced the GFA's team shortlist him for the coach. Trapattoni has had spell with Italy (2000-04) spent ten seasons at Juventus, managed Bayern Munich at two different times, and also had a spells with Milan rivals Inter and AC Milan.

Ghana are hunting for a new head coach after sacking Kwesi Appiah in the middle of September and assistant manager Maxwell Konadu has been asked to take charge of the team on interim basis until a new coach is announced.

With Trapattoni out, the race is expected to be between 2014 Netherlands assistant coach Patrick Kluivert, Serbian Milovan Rajevac and Italian Marco Tardelli.

The GFA is expected to name a new coach for the Black Stars job next week but Wikipedia claim Patrick Kluivert has been given the job.
