Ghana striker Samuel Afum scored on his debut for Swiss Super League side Young Boys in their 1-0 friendly win over Thun on Tuesday.

The 22-year-old clinched the only goal of the game for his new side in the 36th at the Stade de Genève.

Afum employed his extraordinary pace to outwit the Thun defenders and beautifully place a Christian Schneuwly through pass to the far post.

Young Boys boss Martin Rueda replaced the former Ghana Premier League golden shoe winner in the 70th minute.

Boss Rueda hailed of Afum who inked a three-and-half-year deal at the club last week.

"Afum scored today and he looked very satisfactory in the game. I want him to continue the same way and carry it into the league when we start," Rueda told reporters after the game.

Afum will play his second game for Young Boys as they take on Ukrainian giants FC Dnipro on Monday.

"I'm very happy that I scored on my debut for the club because as a striker that is what I'm supposed to do," he told Ghanasoccernet.com.

I hope to keep up this form and hopefully score against FC Dnipro who are a bigger opposition next week when we travel to Spain," he added.
