Afriyie Acquah repays Kwesi Appiah's faith with goal

Posted On Sunday, 14th October 2012

Afriyie Acquah repaid Kwesi Appiah's confidence in him

Parma youngster Afriyie Acquah justified why he deserved a late call-up for Ghana’s Nations Cup qualifier against Malawi by scoring the only goal in the 1-0 win.

The 20-year-old replaced injured Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu at the last minute and was handed a starting role.

The on-loan Parma workaholic midfielder formed a nice partnership with Anthony Annan to eclipse the Flames.

After four minutes, he sneaked behind the defenders to turn home Andre Ayew’s goal bound shot at the Civo Stadium in Lilongwe on Saturday afternoon.

He was making his second appearance for the Black Stars since his debut in February in a friendly against Chile.

Acquah can earn a place in Ghana’s squad for the Nations Cup finals in South Africa from January 19 to February 10.

Happy for him but untill he playing regular football for parma,he doesn’t have expect any calls.he has been warming the bench of parma almost in all their matches.the return of sulley and essien will make the stars a the to beat!this how i expect the stars to be in the return of essien and sulley.
keeper)kawarsey;he’s the safiest pair in the country at the moment.
2)Akaminko;he’s has been in a great form for Eskisehirspor playing as a right back.contribute more in attack and defend well unlike paintsil.
3)wakaso;very strong on air, clear his lines well and delight to watch when joining the attack.
4)Boye;the most inform defender in the country presently.
5)Vorsah;i give him the nod of mensah b’cos of experience and his nonsense play.
6)essien;injury free essien is one of the best holding midfielders in the continent.
7)Atsu;the darling boy of Ghana soccer currently
8)Sulley;active sulley add more to a team when playing in the central of midfield unlike on the wings.accurate passes, tackles well and has an eye for goal.he can swap position with essien(6) when the need arise.
9)Gyan;the one reliable striker in Ghana presently
10)Dede Ayew;Dede’s eye for goals and his dribbling skills will benefit the stars when playing as a second striker.(free role)
11)k.Asamoah;Asamoah has been one of the best performers for juventus. He plays better on the left wings than a play maker role.he can swap position with Atsu when the need arise.

My friend, you are not the coach. Moreover, you do not have the right to throw abusive words at people who are trying or have tried to bring honours to this country. Tell your mind and stop this age long primitive way of thinking which is characterized by the Ghanaian pull me down attitude syndrome. Even if you have a good comment or contribution, for mere fact that you chose abusive words, you achieve nothing.
      Sabacious grow up!

    • Ghanaman says:

You may be right but, a place on the team is EARNED so, you never know… Also, Paintsil will always start at right back until someone can prove they are better. I am sick of people talking about him when he is our best and most experienced right back…

    • Askantwi says:

Is the Ayew family paying you to write this nonsense? Shut the fuck up, and let the coach do his job.

    • Pike says:

man you should have added memphis depay of psv,he is very good

  2. Tiger says:

@real sabascious, what about KP Boateng, Emmanuel Clottey, Nana Asare and Abayie?

  3. red says:

u are not a radio station…show video aaaabaaaa…whole national team pllays a match n u cant see the hylts wtfk

  4. real sabacious says:

@big mouth, seems like u dont have any meaning thing to contribute on this site!do u understand the word abuse at all?go back and read my comment,if i did used any abusive word on the chap.the truth hurt indeed!for ur information,i’m a Ghanaian and have the right to share my views on any issue concerning Ghana.i was expecting u to tell me if there’s any short coming on the above players i selected.@tiger omitted Abeyie b’cos, its clear that.no matter how he play,he will still not get an invite.the inclusion of David Addy and Wakaso doen’t give Nana Akwasi chance,in other words, those in the FA prefered David as well, for me clottey is not a blackstars material in my view. This is a player who has failed to showcase his talent anytime he moves abroad.I hope he can prove me wrong this time around. As for Kevin Boateng,i wish he could change his mind and join the team asap!otherwise he has no chance in playing for Ghana after the qualifiers.Peace!

    • Big mouth says:

I have very positive contributions to make and i will only do them as and when i deem them necessary. Besides, your expectation of me thinking along your line of thinking is where you have gotten it wrong again.
Word ABUSE does not only make meaning when you point out direct to some and say ‘FUCK YOU’. The meaning of words can also be deduced from how they are used in sentences. If you tell me, just like you wrote and i quote; ’5)Vorsah;i give him the nod of mensah b’cos of experience and his nonsense play’ then i guess am a bit at sea and could postulate as such.
Cheers and have a beautiful Sunday

    • texas says:

Mr real sabacious the only way any player will have to prove you wrong or right is when you are the coach! Of course you have every right comment on the selection of players into the BS but to say that a player must prove you wrong to right before been called the national is saying you are the coach.

  5. pacific says:

As for me, as long as the results are coming,i dont care who akwasi calls..he can even choose to call fulani people to play for the black stars as long as they win ..

  6. King says:

Yes that is the boy from Sunyani who used to play football near the Sunyanihene’s palace. He is maturing fast and the sky is the limit.

  7. real sabacious says:

@big mouth, what i wrote is typing error.i guess u could figure out.i meant his no nonsense play and not as u quoted. As long as Akwasi Appiah justifies his call ups,i’ve no problem of who he invite.some players doesn’t deserves to don the stars jersey and others are favoured as well.I’m patiently waiting for the day Akwasi Appiah will explain to Ghanaians why the most consistent Ghanaian footballer in the last 3yrs (Nana Akwasi Asare) the only Ghanaian player captaining a team in one of the top european leagues is always overlooked.i’m also expecting the coaching staff of the stars to tell Ghanaians that Daniel nii Adjei and solomon Asante are better than Adu kofi,Owusu Abeyie and Albert Adomah.A national team must consist of players who can rub shoulders with the best in the world and not just to satisfy some personalities to enable their guys secure foreigh contracts.i’ve nothing against Afful but as a fan of the game,i dont need Ferguson or Mourinho to tell me David Addy,Wakaso and Akwasi Asare are better than him after watching them for 2yrs or so.I want to give Akwasi Appiah the benefit of the doubt as he try to build a new team,he must follow Abeyie,Adomah,Nana Akwasi and Akaminko so he can solve the left and right full back which to me is the weakiest link in the team,Abeyie in my opinion is better as striker than clottey and Warris not trying to disrespect the duo. currently the form of Warris(hope he can keep on scoring when he moves to one of the top leagues),Jordan and Boakye Yiadom gives hope that,in few months Ghana will have a sharp strikers to give Gyan run for his money.

  8. niinii says:

I assume he wanted to say “no-nonsense play”
