Afriyie Acquah: "I knew I was going to score"

Posted On Monday, 15th October 2012

Afriyie Acquah scored his debut goal for Ghana in Saturday's 1-0 win over Malawi in Lilongwe

Italy-based midfielder Afriyie Acquah says he had a feeling he was going to score in Saturday’s decisive 2013 Nations Cup qualifier against Malawi.

The on-loan Parma player connected Andre Ayew’s cross on four minutes for Ghana’s 1-0 win over the Flames at the Civo Stadium.

“When I was entering the pitch, I had a right feeling it was going to be my day,” Acquah told MTNFootball.com

“I took a lot of inspiration from the way the coach called him and into the team and that made me strong.

“I told my agent Oliver Arthur I feel like I have won a CAF Award.”

Acquah was handed a last minute call-up into the Ghana squad after Udinese ace Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu picked up an injury.

The 20-year-old has now earned his second international cap.

You are right, and that is the problem with Akwasi Appiah.
Derek Asamoah scored for us on his debut but he not been called again, Akaminko scored on his debut but he was not called for this match. Does Akwasi Appiah knows what he is doing?
Why is he keeping Warris on the bench? for what reason?, since Gyan came back from short retirement he has not scored any goal, but why keep Warris on the bench? What’s going on?

It’s like scoring on your debut is a crime to AA.
You score your debut and you are not recalled. Smh

  5. Allen Kwabi says:

My brethren u guys don’t know afriyie acquah,i tell you he’s a fantastic player. He can easily replace agyeman Badu. He’s a fighter and a team playerThese are the kind of players we want in the Black Stars not Derek Boateng.Derek is always passing the ball to defenders.Useless player!

  6. BoscoGh says:

The midfield is believed to be the engine or the heart of every team. It is therefore refreshing to note that competition for places inn the midfield is rising with the discovery of new players.
Healthy competion for selection will improve efficiency and overall performance and for me this is healthy.

In the near future AA will have a pool made up of Muntari,A Acquah,A Ayew,S. Asante,A. Annan,A. Badu,K. Asamoah,D. Boateng,Atsu,Essien and others to choose from.
