Parma midfielder Afriyie Acquah dreams of playing at the 2014 FIFA World Cup finals and relish a meeting with Cristiano Ronaldo.

The 22-year-old is seen as a rising star in Serie A with some sections of the Italian media comparing his unique style of play to Italian legend Andre Pirlo.

Acquah, who made his debut for Ghana in an international friendly against Chile on February 2012, is keen on earning a place in the Ghana squad for Brazil later this year.

“I dream of playing at the world cup and prospect of playing against Ronaldo” the former Ghana U20 player told BBC

“I am playing well and doing my part hopefully it could be enough to earn a spot.

“Ronaldo is the world’s best player and his style is quite unique playing against him will be a realization of a dream and hopefully helping Ghana stop him would be special.”

Acquah played against Malawi and scored his only goal for Ghana in a 2013 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.

Every player wants to face ronalo in Brazil but our first match is against usa! I have counted about five Ghanaian players who wants to face and stop c Ronaldo and I can see cards GALORE for most of our players when we meet Portugal in Brazil!! Our players should stop this timidity and inferiority complex and behave like true professionals becasus is not only Rinaldo that we are going to play but Portugal!!! Is not only c Ronaldo Portugal we are going to face but Germany and USA as well, so our boys should prepare fro the entire tournament and take each match as it comes and stop this c Ronaldo nonsenses!! If we lose to Germany and USA, Portugal ll benched c.Ronaldo in our final match and hence our players ll not be able to so called face him!!!

We have beaten USA twice therefore, they should be the ones to worry about Ghana. We beat Serbia at 2010 and Serbia beat Germany. We narrowly lost to Germany because we had qualified already. We can beat both of them at Brazil.
Against Portugal is a different story, our first clash with their world’s best player.
I do not see inferiority complex here but rather superiority complex.

@Ken, You are wrong about having qualified already when we played Germany in 2010. had Serbia beaten Australia we would have been out because they beat Germany 1 – nil and so had 3 points before playing Australia. In deed we only made it through a better goal difference than Australia with 4 points each. Get your facts straight! And by the way I agree with you @selfmade. Its worrying when these players always talk about handling Ronaldo, looks like they still have the “munchendi” mentality.

He is a bit slow on the ball, but decent passer and energetic, but I still prefer Pablo Anan Aimer

    • Ken says:

You are wrong, only experienced players can stop Rolando. New guys will be fooled by Rolando for a straight red card. He is very clever to feign a foul for free kicks and penalties. Essien knows Rolando more than any Black Stars player. He has played against him several times and has played with him also.
Acquah will be good for USA game, it’s going to be physical and aggressive game being the first match.

  6. Mumbi says:

Naturally We zambians are not very normal people except Some few people. Thanks to Zamalek for disgracing us. I respect Ghana.

  7. King of Kings says:

We can’t go anywhere at the world cup with Pablo Anan Aimer. Is about time we stop selecting players for Black stars just because we just like them. We are looking inform players and those currently playing regularly at their clubs.
