Ghana have received nothing but praise for their excellent performance in the 2-2 draw with Germany. Here are the views of Jay Jay Okocha, Kalusha Bwalya, Sammy Kuffour and more…

Kalusha Bwalya (Zambian legend)

“This will go down as one of the best games of this World Cup and even the history of the World Cup. Neither side deserved to lose the game.

“Technically it was a very high level today, from both teams. I thought Sulley Muntari had a blinder, a fantastic game. All around though I think everyone did their best. Ghana played with patience against a very good German side.

“Muntari’s pass to create the second Ghana goal was fantastic. A wonderful ball and a top finish by Asamoah Gyan.”

Ernst Middendorp (Former Arminia Bielefeld and Asante Kotoko coach)

“A high pace game that would have been enjoyed by the supporters and both teams really went for the three points. Nobody wanted to settle for a draw and it was open right to the end.

“I think there were some moments where I thought Germany could have gone 3-2 down. Ghana definitely had their chances to take the three points.”

Sammy Kuffour (Former Ghana defender)

“I am very proud of my boys tonight. The whole continent of Africa should be applauding. It was a great game.

“I have said it before that Andre Ayew (first goal scorer for Ghana) does not depend on his father’s name (Abedi Pele Ayew, former Ghana great). He is out to build his own name and he continues to do that.

“I am really happy with the performance from the whole team. Even the coach. He had to prove a point after the first game when Ghana lost to USA. Ghana went a goal down and came back to equalise and go ahead, which is credit to the coach and the players.”

Shaun Bartlett (Former South Africa striker)

“We knew there was going to be a lot of goals because both teams have so many attacking players. You needed your big name players to rise up tonight and that is just what happened. Gyan took his goal well, Muntari made the goal and Ayew got the equaliser, so Ghana’s stars did the business.”

Jay Jay Okocha (Nigeria legend)

“As African teams, we can match the best players in the world when it comes to talent and ability. But it is all about the attitude and sometimes our teams let themselves down in this area.

“But tonight Ghana represented themselves very well and the continent will be happy. The attitude was fantastic.”
