Ten-man Ethiopia battle to draw with AFCON title holders Zambia

Posted On Monday, 21st January 2013

Zambia's Stoppila Sunzu (L) vies for the ball with Ethiopia's Said Ahmed during their Group C 2013 African Cup of Nations football match at the Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit

Ethiopia missed a penalty and had their goalkeeper sent off but still fought back to hold defending champions Zambia 1-1 in their African Cup of Nations Group C opener.

Saldin Said won but failed to convert a 23rd-minute spot-kick before keeper Jemal Tassew was shown a straight red card for serious foul play just after the half-hour mark.

Collins Mbesuma finished with aplomb to put Zambia ahead seconds before the break, but the Chipolopolo seemed to ease off in the second half and Ethiopia – despite being a man light – made them pay when Adane Girma fired home on 65 minutes.

Zambia did push for a winner but they looked worryingly short of ideas, although Jacob Mulenga missed a straightforward chance late on.

In the end Ethiopia were worthy of their point, which was greeted like a victory by their delighted bench and fans.

It had all started so promisingly for Ethiopia, making their first finals appearance in over 30 years.

Star man Said was looking lively and, after beating Zambia keeper Kennedy Mweene, was agonisingly unlucky to see his lob bounce off the dreadfully hard surface and land clear of the bar in freakish fashion.

The Wadi Degla forward, Ethiopia’s most expensive player after sealing a £200,000 move to the Egyptian side last season, also won a penalty using his tricky footwork – but he missed it, putting the finish weakly to the right as Mweene saved well.

Ethiopia could have been 2-0 up but they paid for their misfortune when Tassew – who had just made a good save from Chris Katongo – recklessly lunged out of his area with a high boot into the midriff of Chisamba Lungu.

After an eight-minute delay while both received treatment, Tassew was dismissed and Ethiopia – having been the better side – were down to 10 men.

They are hardly the most experienced international side – all bar three play domestically, and even then only Said features at any sort of level – so it seemed a matter of time before their 10 men would suffer at the hands of the defending champions.

Indeed, eyebrows were raised when only three minutes of first-half stoppage time were signalled – but Zambia used the shortened half to their advantage, scoring just before the interval as the previously quiet Mbusema latched on to Katongo’s flick-on before firing a low drive past substitute keeper Zerihun Tadele.

Zambia should have used their twin advantage to push on in the second half, but they eased off and allowed Ethiopia to launch waves of attacks, albeit without truly threatening Mweene’s goal. Zambia, meanwhile, were toiling, with Mbesuma looking like he was content with the one goal, and strike partner Katongo barely interested.

So the Walya Antelopes, working exceptionally hard to cover their disadvantage, were fully deserving of their equaliser when it came.

Midfielder Addis Hintsa was brought into play on 64 minutes; within seconds, he had initiated the move that saw Girma fire a rasping finish in off the near post after a cute pass from Said left Lungu ball-watching.

Zambia awoke from their slumber as Mulenga sent a free header over, while Tadele saved well from Mulenga after the Utrecht forward had been brought on.

Southampton forward Emmanuel Mayuka also came on for the final minutes, the former Basel man impressing with his pace and directness, but his team-mates were still off the pace as they failed to claim a winner.

The second Group C match sees two-times winners Nigeria face Burkina Faso at 6pm.

Man! Zambia deserved to lose. They did not play well, and I thought Ethiopa was a weak team. This tournament could be anyone’s. The great African football nations are all looking vulnerable so far.

Ethiopia played better today so what? worry about your own problems black baboons

      • Final Whistle says:

At least u called us BLACK BABOONS meaning we are the beginning of mankind and civilization. The last time I checked, 11 RUBBER BULLETS couldn’t kill a single Wayla Antelope from Ethiopia. How useless you are as an over rated champions. If you think you can make any impact, check your last three matches, all hv ended in draws.

  3. Zambia is out toilet hole says:

WHERE ARE THE STUPID ZAMBIANS WHO KEPT MAKING NOISE HERE?HAVE THEY SEEN HOW ONLY TEN MEN ETIOPIANS SWINDLED THEM TODAY?THIS TEAM MAKING PROUD BEING CHAMPIONS?MY FOOT.THEY ARE YET TO MEET NIGERIA AND THE NEXT THEY ARE SHOWN THE EXIT.

    • Black Baboons aka Ghana are packing says:

black baboons?but you are apes.the most ugly animalin life and that is how you guys are.if we ghanaians are like you hehehe,we shall never appear on cameras let alone coming to struggle with a ten man Ethiopia.Yes your group is open and that is why nigeria is going to kick you out.You never deserve anything because your skills on the ball are bunches of jokes in the first place.Ugly looking hings.Mali and Ghana are going to advance in group B.If you are in doubt,go and ask your mother or any other thing you believe in because no matter what, the cup is coming down to west africa.Zambia stinks and nigeria is going to dimantle your dirty players.

        • Chipolopolo says:

Compare Kalaba with the guy who scored your first goal against congo…

          WHOS UGLY? stop insulting yourselfs

Zambian players were praying to God even in the finals, whilst your coach was telling the whole world that u use juju in your squad.

Im i lying? stop talking with ur ass and accept the facts

          • Final Whistle says:

No wonder your are still under colonial rule. Even if our coach talked about JUJU, that is the way Africans do worship. Your so called Christianity is a western religion brought to africa to make us feel inferior to the west. I think Juju is better than Prostitutes offering sex for free simply because you have beaten ur masters (BLACK STARS) forgotten that ur country is ranked higher in HIV/AIDS prevalence.

  4. Union Leader says:

When will the Luck run out on these ugly Zambians? They could only managed a 1-1 stalemate against lowly Ethiopia(Ranked 105 in the World) who played the entire second half with 10-men. The Ethiopians having squandered a 1st half penalty. Question is for how long will team continue to ride on luck?Africa champions my foot!Very soon their good luck will run out. They are just an ordinary side. They will Choke sooner than later.

    • Ghanians are used to scare babies in Zambia says:

Ghanians are so stupid, our goolie is experienced, players dont miss (even ur gyan) penalties, he saves them.

Its not luck. The fact that your useless keeper cant save a penalty even though the congo taker looked in the same direction 3 times doesnt mean its luck for others to save the penalty,

If you Ghanians have access to supersport, you would know that Ethiopia has been ranked as the most tactically dsiplined side so far, even better than your black jujus so they deserve the draw.

Nigeria has failed to beat burkina faso so Zambia has nothing to worry about, its you who should be preparing to welcome your team soon

      • Zambia is out toilet hole says:

My foot.wht is zambia in terms of economy and technological advancement?when nkrumah brought hydro electric power and television to ghana where was zambia then?Access to super sports?oh l am sorry for these animals.Ethiopia ranked what? and zambia is ranked what?you guys talking of juju?ask your technical team and you will understand why zambia won against ghana and ivory coast last ear.Zambian players taking a bathe in the see at night with horible activities?why cant you play again?because you can’t continue drinking the blood of inocent people.Infact all your players are ugly and dirty looking things.you make the black colour looks so cruel in the sight of foreigners outside africa?I was so sad when my white friend who came to my home lastnight asked me when we were watching the zambia game”he my friend so are these the peaople from zambia?”I replied yes.he then retorted ”are these really people like us”oh no but the are so dirty and hungry looking”do they have water ”he continued ”I think the other side[ethiopia]looks a much better looking side as black people but for the others, almost animals”Infact despite footbal argument between us here I shouted at him ”Shut up my friend respect Africa ok?” ”I do respect Africans but these ones really don’t look like the beautiful blacks like you and others we around here and those we saw when last visited Ghana.

        • PIG says:

Now boss, that cheap! Both Zambia and Ghana are poor countries. If you know your history and have some education, you will learn that until our Kaunda followed the useless Panafricanism by you Nkruma, Zambia was the richest country in Africa by far, only behind White ruled South Africa and Rhodesia. We lost it in the 1980s. And more recently, in 2011, two countries graduated into the middle income category, and these are Zambia and Ghana, I dont know what you are talking about. The point is that we (Zambia & Ghana) are both poor underdeveloped countries, so lets talk football. And by the way, why do we have so many economic refugee from West Africa if they are so rich? We send proffessionals to teach you how to work, you send us refugees, can I mention some names, I ll give your ours, Amon Jere, Magret Mwnakatwe, I guess you know these names

          • Joshua Jere says:

bY the way Amon Jere is my brother as in for real. Anyway. am Just not happy with the insults we are trading. the truth of the matter is that the Africa tournament has gotten more exciting and to a certain degree results are not predictable. I feel Zambia has a slight edge of Ghana as Ghana hasnt been that much impresive and they are in a worse position in their group than Zambia. Facing Mali is quite a strong hudle for them. As for Zambia, the past glory and pride that Nigeria has as an african super power may just be of an advantage as Zambia will go into that much with alot of respect for Nigeria. That in it’s self will make them come to their best and they may just come out with all three points taking advantage of Nigeria’s defensive frailties and Slight inexperience with some of their players. Lets not forget, they are a team that are trying to rebuild. Ghana should be able to bounce back though and if not win the group they may just be among the teams to go through with DRC or Mali. Lets face it, they have all the right arsenal to come out with a positive result and it’s really up to them to take it to the play. Am confident Nigeria will not make with burkina faso out our group too. Zambia and ethiopia to go through. those guys have an amazing support and they are also impressive technincally.

        • Chipolopolo says:

For once lets be honest, which player in the Ghana squad is as handsome and young as Rainford Kalaba or Nathan Sinkala?

Ghanians be honest with yourself, your players look uglier than Zambian players (no offence), google those names and compare with ur squad.

Better still, show the pictures to someone nuetral and you will be disapointed with the answer

          • Shizil in Banku says:

Wow I did google and these Guys are (lost for words) fucking ugly compared to kwarasey and Ayew and even Derick. please zambia if these are your handsome players, then am sorry.

          • Final Whistle says:

U better stop these nonsense and talk soccer. If u are to compare, as urself if there is any ugly person in the tournament than Collins Mbesuma, Musonda (Golden Arrows) and Chris Katongo. It doesn’t worth continuing this insulting argument. Lets embrace civilization cos this doesn’t fit us as Africans. My fellow Africans, never say Zambians were sent to Ghana to teach us something, do u know a number of Ghanaians who have taught in Zambia? I have a lot of Zambian friends in my research institute and they always talk about their good Maths and Science teachers from Ghana. We are for peace so lets stop these insults.

          • POW says:

Chipolopolo, I just googled the pictures of the players you mentioned. I’ve always thought Laryea Kingston is an ugly player but thanks for making me know that Laryea is by far handsome. Did you write those names by mistake or you are out of your freaking mind?

    • African Champs says:

      kekekkekekekkekeke

Go to bed stupid Ghanians coz we all cant remember that, let the DEFENDING CHAMPIONS play and worry about your own problems.

      • Zambia is out toilet hole says:

WHEN WAS THE FIRST TIME ZAMBIA PLAYED IN THE WORD CUP?GHANA HAS PLAYED AFRICAN CUP OF NATIONS ALMOST EVERY TWO YEARS AND YOU CAN COMPARE THIS FACT WITH ZAMBIA?WE HAVE WON FOUR NO MATTER NOW OR WHEN .WE HAVE WON AFRICAN UNDER 20 AND WORLD UNDER 20 CUPS.NEVER EVER HAPPENED IN AFRICA.GHANA STILL PLAYED THE FINAL AFCON OF SENEGAL 92 ,FINAL IN 2010 AND WHERE WAS ZAMBIA THEN?YOU ONLY WON ONCE AND NO OTHER ACHIEVEMENTS SO HAT ARE YOUR NOISES FOR?WE ARE STILL PLAYING THIS YEAR AND WE ARE ALL HERE WATCHING,NEVER SLEEP BUT KEEP AWAKE TO SEE IF ZAMBIA WILL DEFEND THIS TITLE OR EVEN MAKE IT OUT FROM THE GROUP STAGE.WHEN YOU SEE YOUR FATHER RESPECT HIM AND CALL HIM BY THE PROPER NAME DADDY SO THAT YOU LIVE LONGER ON EARTH AS GOD HIMSELF SAID.GHANA IS YOUR FATHER IN THE GAME AND UNTILL YOU GUYS CALL US BY THE PROPER NAME,YOU WILL NEVER GROW AND THAT WAS THE EXAMPLE WE ALL SAW YESTERDAY SEING 10MEN ETHIOPIA CAUSING HAVOC.

  6. Zambia is out toilet hole says:

HAHAHA ZAMBIA,I TOLD YOU SO.THIS IS THE MOMENT WE HAVE ALL BEEN WAITING FOR,CHAMPIONS INDEED?AT LEAST GHANA PLAYED WITH A BETTER SIDE AND EVEN SCORED 2 GOALS AGAINST 11 STRONG MEN.WHAT TIME DID YOU STRUGGLE TO SCORE A GOAL?NOT UNTILL THE REF.AIDED YOU BY SHOWING THE GOALIE THE EXIT.STILL WITH YOUR BEST AND SECOND TO NONE 11 PLAYERS,ETIOPIA ISCIPLINED YOU.IS THIS THE TEAM YOU HAVE BEEN MAKING THE LONG TERM NOISE ON?IS THIS THE TEAM TO BEAT GHANA ,NIGERIA AND IVORY COAST?MY FOOT,JUST PACK YOUR BAGS AND BAGGAGES AND LEAVE.

    • African Champs says:

You idiot! What better side did you play? do you know Congo is essentially a TP Mazembe club team without the superior Zambian players?

If you cant beat TP Mazembe without Zambian players, it explains why you will never defeat Zambia coz its the Zambian players who make TP Mazembe?

Is DSTV that expensive in Ghana, you people are clueless as hell. Stop worrying about Zambia, we know it hurts coz ZAmbia has really embarased u as a team but thats no reason to hurt Zambia.

Ethiopia played good football, end of discusion. Does ghana beat any team ranked below them? stupid Ghanians

  7. joe boi, says:

Shame unto you foolish Zambians,u claim to be defensive champions but u failed to beat Ethiopia,i will advice you to start packing your luggages and leave south africa becos u can even win one match in the group,Nigeria and Bukina Faso will also beat you,u these foolish zambians think u can compare yourselfs to Ghana Black Stars,it has been designed in the air that Ghana will lift the trophy although we drew goaless in our first match,no wonder almighty Spain lost their first match but yet still they managed to lift the 2010 world cup,God bless our homeland Ghana, satan bless Zambians.

    • ghanians belong to the zoo says:

Do you hear what you are saying you black mamba?

If spain lost the first game and won the world cup, why are you so shocked about Zambia coz we didnt even lose?

Zambia is ranked below Ghana by both FIFA and CAF, but how many times have we wiped your butts?

Ghana will NEVER lift an AFCOn with 16 teams. Your group is already in danger. Zambia is still comfortable coz all teams have a point.

Foolish Ghanians, go to sch first before u start blogging and commenting

  8. loso says:

    • ghanians belong to the zoo says:

Zambia has been to the finals 3 times, and a countless number of times to the semi’s and quarter finals.

Zambia has won an AFCON in the 21st century with 16-teams, something your black jujus have failed to do.

Do u think u will beat Mali esp that your coach has selected a mediocre Ghana team headed by the record time penalty misser in Asomoah Gyan?

You have more problems to worry about than Zambia. ZAmbia has never lost to Burkina Faso so go and suck on that and the super eagles are simply super chickens now.

DOnt worry about Zambia, you will not meet us this time coz u are leavin before the quarter finals

  9. loso says:

  11. joe boi, says:

Every Zambian is a bitch,u started insulting and cursing Ghanaians when we drew goaleass yesterday, but at the end of the day u have also drew goaless with Ethiopia who are been ranked 105 in the whole world,Black Stars could have beaten Ethiopia 5 goals to nothing and on the other hand,Dr Congo could have beaten foolish and fake Zambians by 5 goals to nothing,i think time has come that Zambians must respect Ghanaians.

    • ghanians belong to the zoo says:

      Whos playing as DEFENDING CHAMPION?

TP Mazembe is made up of Zambian players and that side you played is a TP Mazembe team without the influential zambian players like Sunzu, Kalaba and the rest.

ARe you ghanians this stupid or maybe you are just trolin?

We dont blame u for bein ugly and black coz u got that from your families bt we blame u for bein stupid coz u can change that

Where is CongoMan? Lol. They will change their Names now. COWARDS!!! It just got better. When you live in a glass house don’t throw stone at your perceived enemy. Even with your Best Squad u managed to draw with 10 man Ethiopia. And Ghana deprived with many many top star players still is solid as rock. This is what we call a football Nation. Not loud mouth.

  15. Congoman says:

Why are you looking for me Troy?. We’ve already finished with you from yesterday!.
Mputu and his troops neutralised you. You got lucky to escape with a point. Niger is next on The Leopards MENU.
And why are you laughing at Zambians 4?.

    • Zg says:

Stupid Fool congoman, if it wasnt for the penalty do you think yall would have draw with us,we took it easy on you because we saw no threat, but that was our mistake, lets meet again and see how u do.

  16. Zambian says:

Foolish performance from our team, but credit to Ethiopia for such a superb display against th holders.

  17. Troy says:

Congo Lol u were lucky to be gifted the penalty. Else we would have nailed you. Weren’t you the one hailing zambians and rejoicing in their record? Now you sound calm.

  18. Congoman says:

Well teach your apprentice defenders to keep their hands off the opposite players shirt. I don’t really blame the defender because Mbokani skill (the hook in box) was just too much for your young defender so he was left with no choice be to grab Mbokani t-shirt. Lualua crossbar thunder shot that nearly broke the cross bar in pieces, and youssouf Mulumbu’s shot that nearly made it 3 goals to 2. Come on you all know that you got lucky yesterday.
Leave the Chipolopolo boys of Zambia alone. They will bounce bk with TP Mazembe players.

  19. pike says:

Where the fuck are the zambians…I bet will not even make it out of the group stage..Come out and talk foolish people..

  20. Congoman says:

@ pike. Are talking about your mama?. Bring your mama up to me, I got a thing the size of an elephant’s one!. Ican your mum handle it?. Idiot of Ghanaian, we should have killed you yesterday. We got nothing against Zambians, they are our next door brothers and they don’t talk shit
    Like you motherfuckers. Pussy-hole.

  21. Papa says:

Unlike you arrogant Ghanaians, we Zambians accept when we do not play well. We accept that we were shitty today and the coach got his tactics wrong. But we will come back strongly in the game against Nigeria. By the way, give credit to Ethiopia because they are quite talented even though they’re a bit naive. A better team would have walloped us. Anyway, the tournament is still on and we are still in contention.

  22. Chukka says:

Useless idiotic Ghanains? We still beat your asses you fools. Get over your selves.

  23. Congoman says:

@ Zg, who told you that we happy about the draw?. You wrong man. How can we be happy when we know that we let off the hook a big Fish?.
Favour more, a penalty is a goal. Why did he hold on to Mbokani Jersey for?. The ball was bound for the back Ghana’s net anyway, cause if your dofender
Did not pull Mbokani top believe me he was going to unlish a thunder shot from his left foot that no keeper could save!!.

    • Zg says:

lol in your dreams, dont flap ur mouth because your got lucky, wait til your next game,if you win then start talking noise,i dont consider penalty a real goal, its a goal but not like a real goal, you know it and i know.

  24. kimco says:

@ joe boi- hey hey, stop disgracing ghanaians, what goaless draws, 2-2 and 1-1 are not goaless draws, who taught u that. Plus which air decided we’ll lift the trophy co2 or h or maybe oxygen, lol u’re soo funny.

“Our fans expected more than we did today, and they are right. Today, it was the fault of the coach. I did not prepare the team well to start the competition – we’ll see how things go after the third game. ”

    - Herve Renard, Zambia coach

  31. kwagyei says:

for those presumptuous comments claiming to be the mouth pieces for Zambia Fa or Ghana FA- you better refrain from such unqualified and unwarranted opinions. Keep those opinions to yourselves.

  32. Blakroze GH says:

  33. Zambianite Chansa says:

Football, these days is tricky. Any team shld be wary of Ethiopia. Nigeria eagles, watch out for 2 copper bullets. Ghana chill, your verdict is coming…

  36. kimco says:

good coach, diplomatic in public, strict in private. That’s the coach we need

  37. Gimli says:

I’ll try to be honest and i don’t care about trolls and insults. I’m a BS supporter but up to now, the team that made the most impression to me is Zambia even though they drew with a weaker side today. They are now an all around team with an extraordinary level of fitness and some really skilfull players. I mean, this guy Chisamba on the left, alongside Kalaba who has a free role in the team, is awesome! They are compact and strong and they even brought in some new players. I’m referring to the two Mulenga boys. I didn’t like so much the centre forward one, Jacob i believe is his name, as much as the other one. He is technically perfect and blends to the system. Jacob seemed laggish and didn’t blend with the others. I observed a bit of individualism displayed mainly by Katongo but overall, Zambia is a really strong side. For me, they are the team to beat but i need to watch the last group tomorrow to have a more clear view. Why Zambia didn’t win today? Because this is football and the reason we love football is that every team, even the weakest, has the right to dream. And the Ethiopians at least played their hearts out today and kudos to them! On the other hand, what i don’t personally appreciate is badly performing referees. The Nigeria match has just ended and there is no way, this weak Burkina Faso team could ever even draw, on 11 against 11! But the referee, since the first minute chose to punish the nigerian challenges, whilst the same challenges that came from the other side, were left unpunished. Today’s referee was a disgrace to the beautiful game to the point that he ended sending off a nigerian player, presumably for holding Pitroipa. I’m sorry but Pitroipa clearly dived over there. The problem for Nigeria now is that they need to beat Zambia, which i don’t think they are ready to do. Nigeria is in the process to build the new generation and they clearly lack all the pieces of the puzzle at this moment. But this doesn’t mean that a referee can shatter their dreams. For me the group still is Zambia’s to win and it is very likely that the second team will pass on goal average.

      Idiotic drunk Zambian

      • Zg says:

Gimli come on man,you know you are Zambian

        • Gimli says:

I’m not Zambian nor Ghanaian. I come from another continent and i happen to love african football. I’ve always been a Ghana BS supporter and this won’t change now. But above all, i love the game and i trully backed Zambia last year in the final against CIV. They were a lovely team to watch and i think they are going to be even better this year. Their behavior on the pitch has slightly changed. They no longer play behind the ball but instead they seek possession. They are more mature and they have distinct roles and true leaders both on(Mweene) and off the pitch(Renard). But above all, they are united. At least, they appear to be. They certainly don’t possess of the depth in talent potential that Ghana has right now nor its record of achievements but they are commited to a common cause. They remind me a bit of early 2000 Cameroon. I like to watch teams with a good structure and a true sense of commitment towards an honourable goal. I’ve been an admirer of Hassan Shehata’s Egypt in the previous tournaments and Zambia was pretty much a similar story, in terms of assembling a non lucrative yet motivated contingent of local men who were ready to give their all for the ultimate cause. And i have to admitt that this story of redeeming the 93 perished team last year, was also moving. I don’t know where you come from but i tell you that the zambian team is completely likeable to me. And in almost all cases, i find myself in the position to support them… except when they play against Ghana Black Stars :) PS. I don’t know why there is such a huge amount of hatred between the african nations. I mean, rivarly yes, i can unerstand that. But, why hatred?

          • Joshua Jere says:

Gimli Am humbled by your words. Wheather you are Zambian or not i must say you are objective and clear. May God bless you.

    • kiki says:

What you are saying is not true. Zambia’s level of playing doesnt come close to Ghana’s. Zambia played like an ordinary team, nothing special nor nothing that shows a signs of a champion about them. Ghana lost on the bench not on the field. I still think Ghana looks like the best team so far.

      • Luapula Fish says:

You talkative Ghanians , Ghana cannot even string 5 passes and cant keep the ball on the surface. We cannot compare Ghana’s playing style with that of chipolopolo

        • kiki says:

“Talkative Ghanaian”?!! so Ghanaian cannot support their team? if they do, they are either fools or talkative.
c’mon you gotto give some credit to the Ghanaian national team, they are at least 4th team on the continent. All i am saying is that, of all the games that have been played so far, Ghana seems like the best team so far. thats all i am saying.
i was hoping Zambia would play like a defending champion but to my disappointment, they didn’t – how could they allow a 10 man Ethiopian team to come back to draw. i was also very disappointed with the Ghanaian team because they looked complacent to me. So was the South African team.
i’m not trying to be bias because i am Ghanaian. i am being objective. disagree with me but come back with valid point.
also why are people attacking other people instead of addressing the matter as hand. We should stop attacking people.
c’mon people, let be adults here

  38. tipo says:

Why did we see more Ethiopia fans than Zambia fans at Mbombela Stadium today? I know certainly that Zambia is geographically closer to South Africa than Ethiopia.

Shame to those Zambians who exaggerate, lie and stage everything about Zambia to be holistic.

  39. Troy says:

@congoMan, are you forgetting Mubarak Wakasso’s free kick that almost Broke the spinal cord of the stupid congo Goal Keeper?

  40. kwameopoku says:

such a wonderful performances so far in this tournament,it means it have come of age.

  41. Congoman says:

Yes it’s TRUE the African continent witnessed it yesterday that Ghana ALMOST LOST TO THE LEOPARDS OF DRC.
    You lucky chiwawas.

  42. Congoman says:

Ghana looks the “best” team my Foot!!. With that Shambolic display we all witnessed yesterday?. RaasClaat.

    • kiki says:

i said Ghana looks like the best team SO FAR. i think they played like good soccer players who just need to work together to gel. the coach is not helping that i will say.
i will come back if i see another team that has a potential.. its just my opinion

  43. Congoman says:

Well we shall see after the first 3 games?. I mean you people got big mouths. So we gonna prove it to you on pitch!!!. Full stop. No blah, blah, blah.

  44. Congoman says:

True that Luapula Fish. Look how we out class, out pass them, out hit and finally OUTPLAYED their BS team.
And if we get them again this time we will go for the kill. Simply as that, no more let offs.

  45. kiki says:

“you people got a big mouth”? hahaha. you right about one thing – lets wait till the first round is over. and also i am not the one blah blah.you have been blinded by you support for Congo. i do understand though.

  46. Veverita says:

Congoman please stop disgracing the good name of Congo, I don’t know about where you are but what I know is that, for we at the katanga province we are seriously glad that mercy has been shown to us and we managed to weasel our way out with a draw cos Ghanians proved to be better than us at the end of the day, we were outclassed and I hope there won’t be a next time cos they won’t let us off. Good game BS but I hope you guys also know that we gave you a run for your money?

  47. Congoman says:

There is no hatred man. Thats football in Africa. There are always 1 or 2 people who steps out of line in their words but that don’t give you the right to come and people here.

  48. Congoman says:

Correction; I meant come and judge people here?.

  49. Blakroze GH says:

Now listen here luapula fish, I would have preferred calling you a Goat but if it’s fish you want, then it’s fish you’d get so here goes…..foolish fish, you said something interesting ” Ghana cannot even string 5 passes and cant keep the ball on the surface.” So I’m guessing that since we can’t keep the ball on the surface, we came with pick axes and dug into the ground to play underground football or our players had the ability to fly so we played in the air shaolin soccer style eh? Secondly you also said we can’t string 5 passes, if that’s the case then Ethiopia showed the world that zambia can’t string 3 passes with 11men against their 10, finally, I quote…” We cannot compare Ghana’s playing style with that of chipolopolo” stupid fish, I wouldn’t have put it in a better way ma..er fish, because for once I agree with you, YOU simply cannot compare our style with yours cos the BS are waay better than the chipolio polio and guess what? Apart from us, Nigerians also intend to kick polio out of africa(afcon) so I’d advise you to leave group B matters to only the members of group B and think of how you’d curb the wrath of the wounded super eagle coming your way….

    • Chipolopolo says:

If Ghana is so better than Zambia why is it that Ghana comes out with one shot on goal when playing them and why do you always lose?

Comeon Ghana, dont reduce yourself to the level of monkeys who cant reason.

Tell your team to start beating Zambia if they are better, for now Zambia is better coz they keep proving your nothin but a bunch of baboons chasing a white ball.

African giants who won the cup 33years ago? u pipo are so funny.

  50. Brazzaville says:

Congo is the team to beat…the leopards are going to far in this competition!!

  51. Kumasi says:

I’m a proud Ghanaian but the truth is that Congo had my BP raised yesterday, the way they came back from 2- nill down was too much 4 my poor health.Congo i hope we don’t meet again in this tournament.

  52. Blakroze GH says:

@Ghanaians belong to the zoo….thank you very much, may you get your reward according to what you’ve said to the loving people of Ghana…”Zambia has been to the finals 3 times, and a countless number of times to the semi’s and quarter finals.” Compare your stats with ours, Ghana has been to the afcon finals 8times, has won 4 and lost 4 fool……”We dont blame u for bein ugly and black coz u got that from your families” you know something, fuck you and your motherfucken mother, how can you a stupid useless peace of shit, black as charcoal living in the blackest part of africa be RACIST? Let’s just say your number 9 mbesuma is the most handsome guy in your country, with his rat like face, front teeth popping out like a bush rat that has been captured and you’ve got the guts to insult us on our site? Look at that pimpled faced shit called sunzu, who plays shit like his shit face, hyped by an ugly polio infested nation like yours, who depends on luck to survive in a tournament….stinking fool like you, I guess you’re a cursed dog walking around that’s why you can pass such idiotic statements….

    • Chipolopolo says:

Take a look at Kalaba and Nathan Sinkala… which person in your team is as handsome as that? I doubt even in your country such a person exists.

Ghanian players have funny heads and are darker, im just being honest here.

Just compare the photos of the ghana squad and Zambian squad. The truth really hurts huh?

Ghana has NEVER won an AFCON with 16teams and you last won it in the 20th Century! You were a great team 40years ago, noone denies that but now you are just a bunch of Baboons

  53. KUNG BANMA says:

SOMEBODY SHOULD EXPLAIN TO ME,WHY IS IT THAT THE ZAMBIANS RECEIVE MORE OF THE YELLOW CARDS THAN THEIR OPPONENTS ? IS THAT THEIR NEW STRATEGY TO RETAIN THE CUP OR IT WAS AS A RESULT OF FRUSTRATION.

  54. kiki says:

“Talkative Ghanaian”?!! so Ghanaian cannot support their team? if they do, they are either fools or talkative.
c’mon you gotto give some credit to the Ghanaian national team, they are at least 4th team on the continent. All i am saying is that, of all the games that have been played so far, Ghana seems like the best team so far. thats all i am saying.

i’m not trying to be bias because i am Ghanaian. i am being objective. disagree with me but come back with valid point.
also why are people attacking other people instead of making valid point that is connected to soccer. We should stop attacking people.

  55. Zambia is out toilet hole says:

Zambia is soccerly bankrupt. They have nothing at all only bosting of a one time lucky plus juju win.they cant continue to drink human blood so the are revealed to the world how poor they are .I never want to compare them with Ghana at all because what we have achieved is really second to none in Africa football and if they are blind to praise us the world does so.Now see,All the quality players Zambia has are what they have paraded. On Ghana’s side,we have great players in world football who are even not with the squad.apart from Gyan,Ananand pantsil ,the rest are young crop of players we are introducing because we don’t play teams like Zambia with Essien,Boateng,Muntari,Dede and Jordan Ayew,Nana Kwasi Asare,John Mensah,Owus Abeyie and you name them hahahaha,I have already given you another team.We just waste tarlents if we should invite such players to only play but Zambia and teams like this.Anyway Ghana Mali are going to proceed to the next stage.Ethiopia Nigeria will proceed to the next stage for group c.Zambia out because Nigeria will dismantle Zambia 3:0

  56. Blakroze GH says:

@Kiki please don’t go there, if that zambian waste ofa human being had not attacked our personality instead of dealing with the matter at hand, this wouldn’t have happened, secondly there’s something I chanced upon when I was looking for some info on the net last week and it was very disturbing. Ever since I came to this earth I’ve never heard of anyone so sexually starved that he will RAPE a HEN, hen? Seriously? Apparently this went on in zambia in the not so distant past and I boldly say it can be googled for proof that a court has sentenced a 27year old man who raped his neighbours hen to death….here is a fellow countryman with such stinking morals insulting we the Ghanaians because they were outplayed and outclassed by a lesser known team. How has”black ugly ghanians” got to do with our play?….you want me to stand and pretend not to see that comment from such an uncircumcised goat?…how desperate can one be to actually think about sleeping with a hen? A hen? Seriously? You guys are jokes both off and on the field with no moral backing whatsoever.

    • kiki says:

i understand your anger but when someone does something to you that you dont like and you reply with the same thing, it takes you to the level of that person. also about the hen issue, i don’t think every one Zambia does that as such, i don’t think its fair for you to use that to judge all of Zambians. i bet when you go online, you will find some crazy shit about every country…like a crazy guy killing innocent kids, or some moron raping girls etc etc etc…
i am a Ghanaian too but i just dont want to go down to the level of people who insult me just because i am supporting our soccer team. bro take it easy and just ignore him. we will all know who the best team is when the tournament is over in a few weeks.

  57. I Believe says:

Well, since you saying that lucky always helps Zambians,i pray that THE HEAVENS gives them more LUCKY to help them beat Nigeria.
Batoto ba Congo bazali likolo, tres bien.
@Tito,Why more Ethiopians than Zambians? Beacuse alot of Ethiopian do own shops and business in S.A.. as a result it was easy for then to have alot of fans.

  58. Blakroze GH says:

@Final Whistle, relax man, we’ve intentionally left that product of a torn condom to continue blabing whilst his team continue to under perform…..can’t you see that he’s now off topic and typical of a blockhead he has resorted to disrespecting our site? Leave him be, let the fool blow his horns all the way to his country cos I smell a record being set here by our former afcon champs…..1st country to exit in the 1st round….

  59. Zambians are 2uu ulgly. Luk at Mbasumba face. Is lyk an ulgly Chimpanzee

  60. zambia is our toilet hole says:

THIS IS THE LINK OF THE ZAMBIANS WHO RAPED THE CHICKEN TO DEATH.http://www.lusakatimes.com/2012/06/21/kapiri-mposhi-men-gang-rape-chicken-death/
