Ghana defender Harrison Afful claims he is keeping hope alive despite having faint hopes of making it to the World Cup.

The 22-year-old fell off the pecking order as left-back in the Ghana team at the Africa Cup of Nations although playing all but of one of the joint qualifiers.

The Esperance player remains confident of making Milovan Rajevac's final man squad for the World Cup in June.

"I lost my place as left-back and I know I have to fight for it. The coach spoke to me during the Nations Cup and I want to correct all mistakes before the World Cup finals. I'm not ruling myself out," Afful told Ghanasoccernet.com

"My club is doing well and that has motivated me to achieve more."

"I can't wait to win the Caf Champions League because it makes you big as a player and my club have what it takes to win."

"I missed the registration for the competition but I should be ready for the Group phase."
