Jerry Akaminko in action for the Black Stars at the Africa Cup of Nations
Ghana defender Jerry Akaminko says he has learnt from his aberrations at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations to improve his stock.
The centre-back, making his tournament debut, was a bundle of nerves in Ghana’s opening Group match against DR Congo.
Akaminko failed to match the pace of strikers Dieurmerci Mbokani and Tresor Mputu Mabi at the Nelson Mandela Stadium.
He cynically brought down Mbokani inside the box for a penalty which resulted in the equalizer as the match ended 2-2.
The Turkey-based says to put the lessons from his unimpressive debut in South Africa.
“I always work hard wherever I find myself. I’m not perfect,” Akaminko said.
“I’m a learner so I’m bound to make mistakes anytime but the good thing is to learn from your mistakes, master it to help keep you going.
“It was a great experience at the AFCON. But I don’t think it can have any effect on my career.
“This will only make me a great player and make my dream come true.”
Akaminko was on target on Saturday for his Turkish top flight side Eskisehirspor in their 2-2 draw with ?stanbul BB.

Blackstars enough of your am sorriers. We don’t need you to cheer about something, parties are always organised to take care of cheering. So spare us sometime on this network. We need to concentrate on our Boys home
Akaminko, I like your spirit. Yes, you will be a better player. Akwasi Appiah played you at a wrong position, you are right-legged player that who have no business to cover for the left- back who was out of his post. I don’t blame you for that goal but I blame the coach, he got all his tactics and formation terribly wrong.
Akaminko became the scape goat for the DRC game, but we were exposed by Cape Verde that gave the Burkinabes the confidence to beat us.
Yes, you are right about the coach. AA was out-coached due to his inexperience in a high level soccer.
Jerry it was not your fault I agree with the prior two posts, also the Coach should have given you another chance during the tournament to prove yourself but he failed to do so. Keep working hard your day will come.
