AFCON 2017: Ghana U23 goalkeeper Ofori to join Black Stars today ahead of Mauritius qualifier

Ghana U23 goalkeeper Richard Ofori will join the Black Stars camp in Accra on Tuesday (today) after being handed a late invite to join the Ghana squad ahead of Sunday’s 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Mauritius on Sunday.

The Wa All Stars shot stopper, who has been in impressive form for the Black Meteors, was wanted handed a call the the senior national team yesterday.

He will arrive in Accra today after his long journey from Wa to join the Black Stars to train with the side.

Ofori is delighted over the chance to impress Ghana coach Avram Grant after being handed the chance to train with the Black Stars.

The Black Meteors first choice shot-stopper received a late call up to train with the Black Stars ahead of Sunday’s 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Mauritius on Sunday.

“I am very excited and I thank God for this opportunity. I am always ready to start,” Ofori said on Monday.

He was impressive for the Ghana U23 team which has sealed qualification to the All Africa Games to be staged in Congo and missed out of an opportunity to qualify for next year’s Olympic games in Brazil.

Ofori will join goalkeeping duo Fatau Dauda and Ernest Sowah with Razak Brimah who is expected to join the squad today ahead of Sunday’s qualifier.
