Returning to the team after a mild bout of Malaria ruled him out of the opening round, Ghanaââ¬â¢s Asamoah Gyan proved to be the difference between the teams as the Black Stars triumphed over Algeria.
Ghana defeated the highly rated Fennec Foxes 1-0 in their second Group C clash at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations.
The veteran striker put in a tireless performance up front for Ghana that looked set to go unrewarded, as he was mostly unable to escape the clutches of Algeriaââ¬â¢s excellent Carl Medjani.
However, two minutes into added time the Black Stars skipper chased down a hopeful long ball out of defence, held off Medjani and was able to beat goalkeeper Rais Mbolhi with a shot from a tight angle.
Itââ¬â¢s a goal that has blown Group C wide open and given Ghana genuine hope that they can progress to the quarterfinals, having lost their opening match to Senegal earlier in the week.
