AFAG Are 'Afghanistan Rebels'...They Must Be Brought To Order

Posted On Saturday, 16th June 2012

Propaganda secretary of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) is incensed with comments by pressure group Alliance for Accountable Governance (AFAG) over the controversial Alfred Woyome judgement debt saga.

Richard Quarshigah minced no words in describing comments made by AFAG during a press conference on Tuesday as ?unruly? ?premature? and ?immature.?

AFAG issued a five-day ultimatum for the arrest of former Attorney General Betty Mould Iddrisu, Finance Minister Dr. Kwabena Duffuor and the immediate dismissal of Deputy Attorney General Ebo Barton Oduro, and officials they claim are complicit in the 51 million cedis judgement debt paid to NDC financier Alfred Woyome.

They warned of series of civil actions and demonstrations if government failed to do their bidding.

Quarshigah told Joy FM AFAG is in no position to make such demands of government. Describing them as ?rebels? acting as though they are in Afghanistan, the Propaganda Secretary said the young men must be brought to order. ?What authority do they have to give such ultimatum? They are behaving like rebel groups in Afghanistan and countries that have been lunged into chaos and confusion,? he snipped.

He said the utterances not only constitute contempt of court, but also geared towards whipping up public sentiments against president John Mills and the three ministers of state they mentioned.

?I think if they continue in that breadth they will threaten the peace of this country. They are attempting to play on the emotions of people,? he lamented.

He was even angry with AFAG?s description of the Mills? administration as a ?paralysis of leadership? demanding ?what do they mean by that? Richard Quarshiga said if AFAG has evidence to prove that President John Mills, Betty Mould Iddrisu, Dr. Kwabena Duffuor are guilty of the charges they leveled against them, they should proceed to the court rather than cast innuendos against them.
