Two England-based players Albert Adomah and Prince Buaben have been added to Ghana’s squad to face Nigeria in a friendly next month.
The Ghana FA has finally agreed to take 20 players for the match on 9 August in London after initially approving only 18 players for the trip.
Winger Adomah, who plays for Bristol City, has been handed his first call-up to impress Serbian coach Goran Stevanovic.
Buaben, who recently joined Watford, returns to the fold after failing to hold down a permanent position in the team previously.
He gets another chance to impress in the midfield dominated by some of the world’s best midfielders.
GHANAsoccernet exclusively revealed the 18-man list on Sunday but added that Albert Adomah and Prince Buaben were on the stand-by because Stevanovic wanted to give them the chance.
Coach Goran Stevanovic wanted to call 20 player for the match against Nigeria on 9 August but budgetary constraints means only 18 players were approved the Ghana FA.
A meeting between the Ghana FA board and the Black Stars technical team met and agreed that the two players should be added to the squad.
Buaben will be seeking to return to seal a place in the competitive midfield while Adomah, a speedy winger with Bristol City, is fighting for his place for the first time.
The full squad includes Norway-born Adam Kwarasey and Rabiu Mohammed who will be making their first appearance for the Black Stars.
Ghana squad:
Goalkeepers: Richard Kingson (Unattached), Adam Larsen Kwarasey (Stromgodest)

Midfielders: Anthony Annan (Schalke 04), Prince Buaben (Watford) Andre Ayew (Olympique Marseille), Kwadwo Asamoah, Emmanuel Agyeman-Badu (Udinese), Sulley Muntari (Inter Milan) Rabiu Mohammed (Evian Thonon-Gaillard) Albert Adomah (Bristol City)
Strikers: Asamoah Gyan (Sunderland), Prince Tagoe (TSG Hoffenheim) Dominic Adiyiah (Karsiyaka)
i think jordan ayew shd have been invited, i watched d super cup and the guy is in form. tagoe and adiyiah are struggling get clubs yet they are always invited, because they managed by virtus international, they are using BS to market their players.
there are only 19 players not 20
ghana’s starting line up i hope will be this
—————-kwarasey———–
——-vorsah————–john mensah
paintsil————————–opare

Ghana hasn’t had any out and out inform consistent performing striker for a long time. so i don’t see the logic behind inviting new playings any time they show dim glimpses of talent. lets maintain this trio (preferably Ransford Osei to Adiyah) and see them grow as a unit, and i bet we will rip the benefit very soon. Whats the progress on Matthew Amoah?
dont think amaoh will be back just like sarpei, but i think eric bekoe, ransford osei and saddiq adams would be great addition to the strike force rather than replacing adiyiah and others. You are right they have to grow together as much as possible. Look at spanish national team, its made up of players that play together most of the time, mostly barcelona real madrid and sevilla so communication is not a problem
good move gfa and tanks to ghsoccernet 4 the update on ghsoccer.the lyks are good i hope 4 owusu abeyie, badu, kumordzi, jordan, cofie bekoe the gh messi, sarpong.tagoe suck
Who is Sarpong?
give chance for Ransford Osei oooo tom… he’s wayy better and very consistent !!!!!!!!!
Oh GFA
please bring back junior Agogo.. the nigerians are afraid of him psycologicaly.. lol
ahaaa @philosopha yes they are afraid of him the guy is tough ,but with mediocre team like nigeria super chikens we need small boys to beat them.
i think buabeng is a better replacement for both esssien and kevin he is fanstatic player by all standards
@21 gunz.who d hell is agogo.come out with something better and stop applauding mediocrity.9ja by blood.
agogo is the striker who is living on the paycheck for scoring against nigeria, that paycheck will sustain him the rest of his life because it was a magical and most important goal in the history of ghanaian football because ghana was down one man and nigeria had the upper hand but because of him we won. Nigerians will always be scared of agogo
9ja has better strikers than the black stars dont get carried with mediocrity.
