Turkey-based striker Dominic Adiyiah has been dropped from Ghana’s final 23-man squad for the Africa Cup of Nations, MTNFootball.com has exclusively.

The Karsiyaka player has been placed on a three-man stand-by list to be unveiled by the Serbian coach when the squad is released on Thursday.

Experienced goalkeeper Richard Kingson was also dropped from the final squad to be officially unveiled during Thursday’s press conference.

South Korea-based striker Derek Asamoah was a surprise inclusion in the Black Stars final 23-man for next month’s tournament.

Just two home-based players made the final squad list. Goalkeepers Daniel Agyei and Ernest Sowah will make the trip to the tournament.

Stromgodset duo of Mohammed Abu and goalkeeper Adam Kwarasey will make their maiden appearance in Africa’s flagship tournament.

All the key players in the Black Stars will make the trip to the Nations Cup apart from Kingson who has fallen out of favour with coach Goran Stevanovic.

According to MTNFootball.com’s insiders, John Mensah, Jonathan Mensah, Lee Addy, Isaac Vorsah, Daniel Opare and Samuel Inkoom made the cut.

Other key players are Derek Boateng, Agyemang Badu, Andre Ayew, Sulley Muntari, Kwadwo Asmaoah, Asamoah Gyan and Prince Tagoe.

Ghana will be seeking to win their fifth continental title and Serbian coach Goran Stevanovic presented his final squad to the Ghana FA over the weekend.

i dont want to believe this, however if i have my way, i will sacrifice Lee Addy for Jo Ayew. Name P. Tagoe just pisses me!!!!

    • zii says:

thanks a lot about your comment pertaining to Tagoe.
I still just do not get it. I get sick when his name is mentioned. he is just a waste of space in the field with the BS, when are we going to realize that?

    • tzooh says:

who will agree that the following list of players would have made ghana invisible if only we had some of them:
      1. daniel agyei
      2. daniel opare

      4. essien

  2. atiao says:

where is Jordan Ayew? This coach does not know what he is doing.Derek Asamoah is playing in an inferior Korean league and has been called,Prince Tagoe is a bench warmer in the Turkish league and has been called, even Sulley Muntari who is not part of the first 18 players of Inter has been called but Jordan Ayew who plays in the fifth toughest league in the world is not called.I think Jordan made a mistake by opting to play for GHANA. Jordan Ayew would have been a key member for the French national team had he opted to play for France. It is only in GHANA PRINCE TAGOE, DEREK ASAMOAH,AND SULLEY MUNTARI at this time would be selected for a major tournament like the AFCON ahead of a better player like Jordan Ayew.GOD save us all.

    • TAEPODONG II says:

I understand what u are saying boss, but Jo Ayew dug his own grave and this is why… Before his brother Dede Ayew became prominent in ghana football selection he sacrificed at the junior level, Dede played every under 20 qualification game for ghana and didn’t miss any tournament game, he reponded with passion when ever ghana called unlike Jordan who chose to turn down most of ghana’s call at the under 20 level including critical under-20 world cup qualification games which can arguably be state that it contributed to our failure to qualify for the world tournament after we had won it just previously. He has to realize that he need to earn is way and playing for ghana dosen’t require talent alone but also commitment, passion, respect and altimately character…

Plss don’t compare players here, you talk n write for your interest. Beg let allow the coach to do his job,cos in your office, you all know better than anyone. Let RESPECT THE COACH DECISION

  7. Mikki Mills says:

i will be suprise if JORDAN doesnt make it to the nations cup

  8. COCONUTHEAD says:

I am surprised that Kingson was even mentioned in the squad. Earlier on, Plavi made it clear that any player not attached to a team will be dropped.

  9. Nana says:

Please remove Tagoe’s name from the list because I don’t know what he is going to do over there. He is a waste and I dont know why he is still among of the final list. Where is Jodan Ayew? This chap is good and has to be given the chance to justify his inclusion.

  10. afrikaba1 says:

the list on ghanasoccernet has 18 players so lets wait for the full list my fellow countrymen

  11. A cool guy says:

Derick Asamnoah has come of age but Prince Tagoe needs to prove himself. Where is Jordan Ayew?

  15. nana says:

    CYPRUS

Chris Dickson scored the winner for Nea Salamis in a 3-2 win over Aris

  16. mukmin says:

Jordan needs to be called otherwise Mathew Amoah should be called ahead of Tagoe.

  17. Rice and stew says:

Jordan Ayew must be in the squad. Tagoe and Adiyiah must be dropped. Kingston should be in the squad for Kwarasey’s replacement in case we may need that. I dont trust those local boys that well. Only Adjei (goal keeper) should make that cut.

  18. JB says:

can u image tagoe without jordan gh lets get serious.bench warmers ahead ahead of a champions league player plavi you don’t know what you r about but kwasi appiah, kwasi nye jordan ana, emme kyer are you sure you know what u r about?not even a former champions league player in the person of sulley should make the cut ahead of jordan.remember dede in 2006?y do we as a nation not put the country first but envy, hatered and jealousy?i pity we as a people.
