Addy eyeing cup glory with Vitoria Guimaraes

David Addy has cup glory in sight

By Ameenu Shardow

Ghana defender David Addy is targeting cup glory this term with Vitoria Guimaraes.

The 22-year-old only joined the ‘Conquerors’ at the beginning of the season but has already established himself as the first choice left-back of the side.

The ex All Stars player has had a fine season so far but is looking to cap of his impressive debut campaign at the Estadio D. Afonso Henriques by winning a trophy.

“We (Vitoria Guimaraes) are through to the semi finals of the Tarca Cup with a real chance of winning,” he told GHANAsoccernet.com.

“We are now 7th in the league and look quite a way adrift the top but we are still pushing hard.

“Hopefully we will finish well and qualify for Europe next season but also winning the Tarca Cup also qualifies us for the Europa Cup.

“So aside our top flight ambitions, success in the Tarca Cup may well see us in Europe.”

Addy was a member of the Ghana U20 side that won the World Cup in 2009.

@great, Guimaraes is a football team in the Portuguese top league. All the best Addy, hope u qualify, will b looking forward to seeing u excel in the European competition. However, it is very sad that GDA seems to crush talents and swoop them under carpets, why at all can David Addy not make the blackstars squad to tournament, but the likes of kissi Boateng can make the squad hahaha, it just makes me laugh. Look at Spain, brazil and other European national teams, they groom their players from youth level, this chap was first choice left back for our u20 winning squad. Pls GFA don’t waste talents of our ghana players,. It is due time Quincy Abeyie,David addy, Yartey, warris, acquah, Jordan, deed are called back

It is time B.Stars groom their players from youth level, like spain, brazil, germany and other great natiobs, this boy played major part in u20 winning squad, but yet GFA…….. D. Addy should b B.Stars next left back, he is playing day in day out on Portugal, baba Rahman is ok, but needs to experience from youth level before he gets called up to B.stars.
