Ex-Ghana captain Stephen Appiah says AC Milan star Sulley Muntari regrets the action that led to his dismissal from the Black Stars camp at the 2014 World Cup.

Appiah, who was part of Ghana's World Cup backroom staff, revealed that the AC Milan ace is desperate to return to the Black Stars in the wake of his indefinite suspension from the squad.

The AC Milan star was sacked from the Ghana camp in Brazil the morning after he physically attacked a high-ranking Ghana FA official in a meeting.

But the 30-year-old has however so far refused to offer the required apology but his close pal Appiah says he regrets his act.

“He is very sad. Mistakes happen all the time but they always want to come and play for the nation,” Appiah told the World Cup Commission on Thursday.

The incident occurred on the eve of Ghana’s final group defeat against Portugal of which had the Black Stars would have stood a good chance of progression had they won the match.

Muntari has since been slapped with an indefinite ban is required to offer an apology before any consideration of his return to the team is made.
