Ghana midfielder Michael Essien's future at AC Milan will be decided in the next fortnight.

Italian agent Fabrizio Ferrari has revealed the former Chelsea midfielder's situation will be settled well before the closure of the summer market.

"I spoke today with the agent of the Ghanaian," he told SportItalia, "And he said before anything that he wanted to speak with (Milan coach Pippo) Inzaghi and begin preseason with Milan before figuring out where they go next.

"I think within a fortnight, we will meet to understand the situation. He'll take fifteen days to figure out how he will fit in this new project.

"He is a player with great international experience. If healthy, I think he can still give a lot."

Essien moved to the San Siro in January on a free transfer and made only seven appearances for the club.

He has been named in AC Milan's squad currently touring the United States of America.
