The group stage draw for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations will take place in Malabo, capital city of hosts Equatorial Guinea, in just over a week’s time. African Football takes a closer look at some of the statistics surrounding the upcoming draw.

0 – The number of teams making their Africa Cup of Nations debut in Equatorial Guinea 2015.

1 – The number of goals conceded by Cameroon in the group stage of the qualification campaign, the least of any team.

4 – The number of pots teams will be drawn from, the number of different groups there will be at the 2015 finals, and the number of teams in each of those groups.

5 – The number of former AFCON champions who will not be in the draw: Egypt, Nigeria, Sudan, Ethiopia and Morocco. Between them, this quintet has won 13 Nations Cup titles.

6 – The number of goals scored by Burkina Faso’s Jonathan Pitroipa, the leading scorer during the qualifiers.

9 – The number of former AFCON champions present in the draw: Ghana, Cameroon, DRC, Ivory Coast, Zambia, Tunisia, Algeria, South Africa and Congo. Between them, this group has won 16 Nations Cup titles.

13 – The number of goals scored by Ivory Coast in the group stage of the qualification campaign, the most of any team.

15 – The world position of the highest ranked team in the draw, Algeria.

125 – The world position of the lowest ranked team in the draw, hosts Equatorial Guinea.

177 – The cumulative number of AFCON appearances shared between the 16 qualified teams. Ivory Coast have appeared at 20 previous tournaments (the most), and Cape Verde and Equatorial Guinea just once each (the least).

3710 – The distance in kilometres between Malabo and Casablanca, the city where the draw would have been held had Morocco not pulled out of hosting the 2015 AFCON.
