Coach Mashaba has started training with the Bafana Bafana

Ghana's group opponents South Africa started a mini-training camp in Johannesburg last night in preparation for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations which starts next month.

The Bafana Bafana started their camp from Thursday until next week Tuesday.

The squad will be trimmed down to 23 players from 30 next week Tuesday.

Coach Shakes Mashaba last week named a provisional 34-man squad for next month's Africa Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea.

Mashaba kept the bulk of the team that played in Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers where they went unbeaten in six matches.

He named four goalkeepers, 10 defenders, 15 midfielders and five strikers.

Mashaba was quoted as saying that the bulk of the players in the squad are the ones who helped the team to be where it is now.

Bafana's opening match of the tournament is against Algeria on January 19th, followed by a clash against Senegal.

The team plays its last group stage match against Ghana on the 27th.
