2015 AFCON: Ghana opponents South Africa to name provisional squad of 36 players
South Africa coach Shakes Mashaba is set to release his squad

Ghana's opponents at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations, South Africa are set to announce a pre-tournament squad of 36 players on Thursday.

African Football understands that Safa will release the list of names during the early part of Thursday.

Mashaba will work with this squad of 36 men between the dates of December 26 and December 30 in Gauteng.

The five-day camp will give the Bafana technical team a good idea of the fringe players as they prepare to name the final group of 23 for Equatorial Guinea next year.

It is expected that the likes of Erick Mathoho, Brilliant Khuzwayo, Bongani Ndulula, Themba Zwane, Bongani Zungu, Thami Sangweni, Yeye Lethsolonyane, Oupa Manyisa, Kermit Erasmus and Dean Furman will form the core of the squad.

Others who Mashaba would want to have another look at are the likes of Vuyisile Wana, Patrick Phungwayo, David Zulu, Puleng Tlolane and Fagrie Lakay.

South Africa have a confirmed training game with Zambia on January 4 at Orlando Stadium. They are also trying to arrange a friendly against Cameroon in Gabon in the week before the tournament starts.

The Afcon 2015 finals will begin on January 17. South Africa come up against Ghana, Algeria and Senegal in the 'Group of Death'.
