Striker David Accam is relishing his opportunity with the Ghana national team having been named in the provisional squad for the 2014 World Cup.

The 23-year-old was one of the major surprises sprung by coach Kwesi Appiah when he named his provisional 26-man squad for June’s tournament in Brazil.

Accam has been in good form for Helsingborg this season and is being tracked by English giants Manchester United.

Many believe he will be one of the casualties in the final cut to be made by coach Kwesi Appiah in order to reach his required 23-man squad.

But the Right to Dream Academy graduate says he will make the most out of the opportunity given.

“The coach obviously saw something in me that is why he called me up into the provisional squad,” he told Metro FM.

“I have played fourteen games and scored 12 goals this season but I know I am coming up against heavyweights like Asamoah Gyan and Majeed Waris who are all doing very well.

“But it is a chance I will relish and make the most out of it so that hopefully I get to make the final squad.”

Accam is yet to make his debut for the Black Stars team despite benefitting from previous call ups.

Use Accam in the upcoming friendlies to prove himself. He could our surprise bet for the World Cup. Personally I will want a fast pace player like Accam on the field when we meet the USA and Portugal who like to do mass attack with their defenders. Accam can be our hidden weapon just like Waris. Indeed, Accam is Ghana’s Neymar.

  5. Ajuba says:

Propaganda ooo. Jus let the boy play his game. Boasting him up with the media is going to get us hyped about him and if he dont play well we will all see. Look what our media has done to inkoom. They pay him too much attention so now when he doesnt perform we see it clearly. My advice for my brother accam is stay away from our stupid media and do good as always.

Millennium is Lionel Messi a giant? Is Wayne Rooney a giant? It is clear you just don’t like Accam or you speak from your ARSE.

  10. DOGO says:

I think A.A will drop two midfielders and one defender. No striker will be dropped because we need them.

  11. harry says:

@Dogo.I think same because the midfielders are too many.Rabiu and Adomah alongside Inkoom.

  12. gaby says:

Aah, Ghanafuoo paaa, how on earth can one compare Acam to Rabiu? Hahah, or have some been paid to say so? Anyway it’s an opinion. I wish the best player goodluck for final 23

  13. risky says:
