Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah has stressed the need to stop Cristiano Ronaldo if his side are to win Thursday’s crucial final Group G match at the 2014 World Cup.

The Real Madrid star is yet to click into gear at the tournament but Appiah says he deserves special attention.

But the reigning World Footballer of the Year showed glimpses of his talent when he superbly sent in a cross for Varela to score an injury-time equalizer in the 2-2 draw with USA.

“Ronaldo is the best player in the world and everyone acknowledges that,” Appiah admitted.

“It's important that we don't allow him to have his own way in the game because he will always punish you.”

Ghana have one point in the Group and need a win  in Brasilia while they hope either Germany or USA lose heavily.
