2014 World Cup: Standard Liege key defender Daniel Opare downplays ankle injury
Ghana defender Daniel Opare has assured Standard Liege fans he will be fit for Sunday’s Belgian Pro League championship playoff cracker against Anderlecht.
The right-back twisted his ankle in Monday’s 0-0 draw at Club Brugge but stayed on to play the entire duration.
“I twisted my ankle a bit but I could eventually play through,” the versatile wing-back said in a post-match.
“But that’s okay. I will just fine.”
Opare has been in top form this term and made 24 starts in 25 league appearances in the regular season.
The 23-year-old is expected to be named in Ghana’s 2014 FIFA World Cup squad.
