Defender Rashid Sumaila has emerged an injury doubt for Ghana’s second group game against Germany despite taking part in Thursday’s training session in Maceio.

The 21-year-old has suffered a toe injury but is said to be responding well to treatment.

Sumaila however completed Thursday’s training sessions with the Black Stars at the Rei Pele Stadium.

The central defender joins Michael Essien as the only injury concerns going into Saturday’s clash against Germany in Fortaleza.

The Ghana medical team is confident the Mamelodi Sundowns defender will be ready by the time the team takes to the field against Germany on Saturday.

“Rashid Sumaila is also feeling some pains in his toe but he is being attended to by the doctors,” Ghana FA spokesman Ibrahim Sannie Daara revealed.

“He is responding very well and has told us he is feeling fine already.”
