Ghana midfielder Mubarak Wakaso has completed his first season in Russia with Rubin Kazan with a 1-1 draw with Terek Grozny on Thursday.

The 23-year-old lasted the entire duration of the last match of the season but ended up with a 31st minute booking.

Wakaso moved to the Russian club at the beginning of the season from Espanyol.

The Black Stars midfielder agitated for the move after being offered almost eight times what he earned at the Spanish club.

He made his debut for Kamni in the goalless draw away to Amkar Perm on September 15, 2013 and scored his first goal for the club two weeks later in the 5-1 demolition of Anzhi Makhachkala.

Wakaso however had his flying start at Rubin affected by fitness issue which saw him fall temporarily in the perking order.

He however regained his regular first team position in the season run-in and scored a goal five days ago.

The ex Villareal man will now be travelling to Ghana to join the Black Stars’ opening preparations towards the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
