2014 World Cup: Scare for Ghana as in-form striker Waris withdraws from training, injury persists
Abdul Majeed Waris is battling injury

Struggling French side Valenciennes are sweating over the fitness of in-form striker Abdul Majeed Waris with fears for Ghana as the World Cup looms.

The Ghana international abandoned training on Tuesday as the Yanks prepared to face giants Lyon.

Waris has a quadriceps muscle problem and is closely being monitored by the club’s medical team.

"He still has discomfort and left the workout early this morning (Tuesday). He is uncertain for match against Lyon," Valenciennes coach Ariel Jacobs said.

Valenciennes are monitoring the progress of Mody Traoré and Rudy Mater who are still in the treatment room.
