2014 World Cup: Leicester City's Ghanaian defender Jeffery Schlupp suffers injury
England-based defender Jeffery Schlupp’s hopes of playing at the 2014 World Cup is hanging in the balance after suffering injury in the English second tier on Saturday.
The Leicester City left-back was taken off in the 77th minute of their 1-0 win against Queens Park Rangers at the King Power Stadium.
Liam Moore came on for Schlupp who suffered the left leg injury following a challenge from Bobby Zamora.
Schlupp, who was being monitored by Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah with the World Cup just about two months away, could lose his chance if he fails to recover in time before the 23-man squad for the tournament in Brazil is named.
He will find the extent of his injury by Monday before a decision is made whether he will stay out for long or not.
Schlupp is touted as the man to solve Ghana’s left-back problems with Cristiano Ronaldo scheduled to face the Black Stars with Portugal in June.
