Kwesi Appiah has praised John Mensah for the gracious way he has accepted his omission from Ghanaââ¬â¢s World Cup.
The Ghanaian trainer announced a provisional 26-man squad to the tournament on Monday without the experienced centre-back.
Mensah, who currently plays for Slovakian side Nitra, has seen a rather fine career blighted by injuries.
Appiah was forced to drop the ââ¬Ëintelligentââ¬â¢ defender due to concerns over his fitness and he has admitted it was not an easy decision to make.
He said: John is a player I really appreciate. It was a hard decision to explain to him but he accepted it,â⬠he said.
ââ¬ÅHe is a magnificent player who has done a lot for his country.
ââ¬ÅAt the end of the day it was decision to make. It was a hard call I must admit.
"The gracious way he accepted the decision and accepted it was a choice I had to make."
The 31-year-old who has 79 caps to his credit played at the last two editions of the global piece.
