Ex-Ghana captain Stephen Appiah says Kevin-Prince Boatengââ¬â¢s moaning for a starting role at the World Cup has been blown out of proportion by the media.
Boateng criticized head coach Kwesi Appiah for starting him from the bench in Ghanaââ¬â¢s opening 2-1 defeat to USA on Monday.
Appiah, a member of Ghanaââ¬â¢s backroom staff in Brazil, the Schalke 04 desire to start is a positive vibe for the team.
"This is not a case to blow out of proportion. Good players always are not happy when they are left on the bench and itââ¬â¢s natural," Appiah told Africanfootball.com.
"I remember when I use to play I always felt uncomfortable when I was left on the bench, but you have to understand itââ¬â¢s all about team work.
"When you have good players in a team who are happy to be on the bench then you have a big problem but if they are not happy it tell you their hunger and ambition."
Boateng is expected to start against his country of birth Germany on Saturday in a must-win Group G match.
