Ghana forward Andre Ayew insists his first goal at a senior FIFA World Cup accounts for ââ¬Ënothingââ¬â¢ following his teamââ¬â¢s 2-1 defeat to the United States on Monday night.
The Black Stars got their campaign at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil to the worse possible start after being humbled by a determined American side in Natal.
Goals from captain Clint Dempsey and rookie John Brooks proved just two strong for Ghana who could only manage a consolation from Andre Ayew â⬓ his first ever goal at a senior World Cup finals.
The Olympique Marseille enforcer was however quick to beat down the effect of his personal historic strike since it was unable to propel his side to secure a result against the USA.
ââ¬ÅNothing [effect of goal] because a goal is good when it means something for the country,â⬠he told GHANAsoccernet.com.
ââ¬ÅIf it had been a draw or a victory it would have been better.ââ¬
Ghana now faces an early elimination from this yearââ¬â¢s finals in Brazil if they are unable to get results against Germany and Portugal in their subsequent group games.
