One of Ghana’s leading television  stations, TV3, on Thursday launched series of programmes geared towards its coverage of the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

The programmes have been tailored to meet the expectations of the station’s wide spectrum of viewers including ardent football fans.

"Our programme line-up for the world cup season is tailored toward the passion of viewers aand sponsors," said Augustus Dickson, the Chief Executive Officer of TV3 Network Ghana Limited, on Thursday at the launch.

"The launch of TV3's world cup programme is more than a mere broadcasting of football matches," Mr Dickson stated.

The launch at Studio 'B' of TV3 saw the Minister of Youth and Sports grace the occasion as the Special Guest of Honour.

He was joined by Chief Executive of Accra Metropolitan Assembly Dr Alfred Oko Vanderpiuje, former Black Stars players Samuel Osei Kuffour and Nii Odartey Lamptey and some entertainment stars.

A memorandum of understanding to grant TV3 the permission to telecast live all 64 matches was signed on Wednesday, May 14.

“It is important that we announce that TV3 is on board and will be showing the signal,” said Major (rtd) Albert Don-Chebe, the Director General of Ghana Broadcasting Corporation, which hosts the consortium permitted by football's world-governing body, FIFA, to show the tournament in Ghana.

Present at the signing of the MoU were Augustine Boakye-Yiadom, TV3’s Acting Chief Commercial Officer, Daniel Amartey Amarh, Head of Sales and Marketing, and Felix Dontoh, Head of Brands.

The theme for TV3’s coverage is: “Best Seen on TV3”.

Among the programmes to be shown before and during the world cup is Brazuca, a live one-hour discussion before and 15 minutes after each game.

"I am confident that viewers will be informed and entertained while sponsors will benefit immensely from this programme," TV3's CEO observed.

Brazil’s world cup, the 20th since the first tourney in 1934, is scheduled to start on June 12 and end on July 12, this year.
