Asamoah Gyan will be key for Ghana, says Adebayor

international striker Emmanuel Adebayor says Ghana will struggle at next month's World Cup if their talismanic striker Asamoah Gyan fails to dazzle.

The Tottenham forward, who lives in the Ghanaian capital Accra when he is in Africa, says the Black Stars successes at the tournament will depend on how Gyan performs.

The Black Stars have been handed a tough group at the World Cup where they face Germany, Portugal and the United States.

The Tottenham player insist the Black Stars chances of excelling will depend on Gyan who now plays for UAE club Al Ain

Adebayor said: "Ghana have a good team. I hope they do well but they have done everything that is possible.

"Asamoah Gyan is a great player and great friend of mine but is now playing in Dubai. He is still their main man. If he is not in form or if he does not match the level of the World Cup, then Ghana will struggle."

Ghana coach James Kwesi Appiah has assembled a team with mainly Europe-based players who have have played together for long time.

Experienced players like Michael Essien and Sulley Muntari will need to be at their best to help Ghana.
