2014 World Cup: Ghana striker Majeed Waris making impact at Valenciennes

Ghana striker Abdul Majeed Waris is underlying his prolificacy at French Ligue 1 side Valenciennes.

The 22-year-old is on a six-month spell from Russian side Spartak Moscow and has now scored two goals in five appearances.

Waris has also made three assists and nine shots at goal for the struggling side in the French top-flight.

His scoring form will delight Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah ahead of the 2014 World Cup finals Brazil.

Waris is one of the few players who are guaranteed slots in Ghana’s squad.

The former Hacken striker scored 23 goals in 29 league appearances to win goal king award in the Swedish top-flight two years ago.

Valenciennes are third bottom on the league table and two points away from safety.
