Ghana striker Richmond Boakye-Yiadom scored a brilliant goal for Elche FC in the Spanish La Liga but they were held to a 1-1 stalemate by visiting Lavante on Friday evening.

Elche manager Fran Escribá reposed confidence in the on-loan Juventus striker but starting him and he paid back by scoring a 63rd minute opener at the Estadio Manuel Martínez Valero for Los Franjiverdes.

Despite a massive dominance by Elche, they were unable to take the lead in the entire first-half with Boakye missing a glorious chance narrowly.

But he made amends when he shot his side upfront midway through the second-half with a trademark finish.

The visitors nearly made Elche pay for their struggles in the final third, but Hector Rodas headed wide from Pape Diop's free kick from the right.

Yet Fran Escriba's men were finally rewarded for their first-half superiority as they made the breakthrough in the 63rd minute, with Boakye drilling low past Navas from the edge of the area.

Levante's response was impressive, however, as they levelled just 11 minutes later with Rodriguez coolly slotting home from close range.

The strike has taken Boakye's tally to 5 goals in 28 games for his side.
