2014 World Cup: Ghana provisional squad leaked - Schlupp, Frimpong named; Vorsah, Annan return
Jeffery Schlupp has been named in Ghana's provisional World Cup squad, says the Ghana News Agency

Ghana's provisional 2014 World Cup squad has been leaked with Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah said to have shockingly included England-based duo of Emmanuel Frimpong and Jeff Schlupp in the 30-man team.

Another shock inclusion is Germany-based star Anthony Annan as well as Isaac Vorsah who were huge doubts for June's competition in Brazil.

But the late campaign for injury-prone John Mensah to join the Black Stars looks to have failed as he was excluded from the list of players for the competition.

The list released by the state news agency, Ghana News Agency, claimed that Aduana Stars goalkeeper Stephen Adams is the only home-based player in the squad.

Several other players who were on the periphery of the squad have been included in what looks like a credible squad from the state-owned news agency.

Germany-based left-back Baba Rahman and Sassoulo’s Yussif Raman Chibsah return for another chance to impress after previously failing to seal places in the squad.

Apart from Chibsah, the other shock inclusion in the midfield is Anthony Annan who is reviving his career with German side Schalke after recovering from injury.

Emmanuel Frimpong is another surprise in the midfield following his January move from Arsenal to Championship club Barnsley.

Frimpong is among 12 midfielders expected to begin preparations on May 26, ahead of the World Cup; Ghana’s third in succession.

Stephen Adams is among four goalkeepers that include Norway-based Adam Kwarasey and the South Africa-based duo of Daniel Agyei and Fatua Dauda.

According to the state owned news agency, GNA, a trusted source has revealed that Appiah named Leicester City’s Schlupp among the ten selected defenders which will be pruned for the competition.

Appiah is said to have presented the list to the Ghana Football Association (GFA) ahead of the official submission to the global body, Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) next month.

Ghana have been placed in a tough Group G which includes Germany, Portugal and United States of America.
