Former Ghana Football Association chairman Alhaji Lepowura MND Jawula has lauded Kwesi Appiah for his decision to name former skipper Stephen Appiah in his backroom staff.

Appiah captained the Black Stars to qualify and play at the 2006 FIFA World Cup finals in Germany.

He quit international football after the 2010 FIFA World Cup finals in South Africa and remains highlighted

The current crop of players have great veneration for the former Juventus and Fenerbahce star.

Alhaji Jawula says Appiah, who is a unifier, will help pull the team together for them to achieve their objective.

"Everybody in Ghana knows what Stephen Appiah means to Ghana football and the coach knows him even better," Jawula told GHANASoccernet.com

"Just look at Real Madrid and see what Zidane is doing there and you will quantify the influence of an inspirational figure within the team.

"I think Kwesi Appiah deserves some commendation for his decision to bring him on board."

Appiah made 68 appearances for Ghana and scored 17 goals.
