Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah feels his team could have walked away with all three points against Germany had they been more clinical in front of goal in their second group game at the 2014 World Cup.

The Black Stars went into game in Fortaleza still licking their wounds from the shocking opening group defeat to the USA.

Ghana however rose to the occasion to thrill the world against the three-time winners but were unlucky not to have come away with maximum points.

The Black Stars after a dull first half, rallied to come from a goal down to hold Germany – a result that leaves Group G very much opened with Portugal yet to play the USA.

Andre Ayew canceled out a Mario Goetze opener in the 54th minute.

Captain Asamoah Gyan put Ghana ahead nine minutes later but the Black Stars failed once more again to defend a corner kick properly and conceded the equalizer to a Miroslav Klose tap in at the far post.

Many have criticized the Ghana team for their lack of cutting edge in their opening defeat to the USA.

But the Black Stars, excelled beyond measure against the European giants and could only count themselves unlucky not to have walked away with all three points.

Coach Appiah has congratulated his team for holding their own against one of the best teams in the world but felt his team could have emerged victorious had they been more potent at goal.

“It was a really good competitive game, we all know Germany is the second best in the whole world and playing them was always going to be difficult,”Appiah said at the pos-match press conference.

“We had some chances to extend our lead but playing a big team like Germany, if you don't take your chances, things become very difficult.”

Ghana will now hope Portugal secures a win over the United States in the other group game on Saturday to keep their hopes of progression alive.
