Michael Essien has returned to regular action at AC Milan

Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah is relieved to have most of his key players make quick returns from injuries with barely a month to the 2014 World Cup.

Influential Black Stars players; Michael Essien, Sulley Muntari and Abdul Majeed Waris were recently hit with short-term injuries at their various clubs.

Many feared these injuries could have a toll on the performance of these players with a few weeks to the World Cup in Brazil.

The injured trio have however returned to regular action for their respective clubs – to prove their fitness ahead of June’s tournament.

Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah is delighted with the quick returns of the three key players but hopes no more injuries are sustained with the World Cup fast on the horizon.

"Ever since the draw was made, we are keeping an eye on all our players. We actually had some few injuries and we thank God all of them have started playing again for their various clubs," Appiah said.

"I think it's a plus and that will help us to focus on the players and the team as a whole.

“On the other side if they start getting injuries, it becomes a problem to turn to a different player. We thank God that all those who got injury are now back training."

Ghana will be making a third successive appearance at the World Cup in Brazil.

The Black Stars however have their work cut out as they are drawn in a tough group alongside Germany, Portugal and the USA.
