Ghana coach James Kwesi Appiah insists his team are focused after issues over pay were finally settled.

Over $3million in cash has been sent to Brazil by the country’s government to pay their team’s appearance fees at the FIFA World Cup.

Appiah’s men face Portugal in Brasilia on Thursday and need a win to be any chance of advancing to the last 16 from Group G.

He denied the payment was a bonus or reward, saying it was just an appearance fee.

“It’s not about being paid, rewarded for anything,” Appiah said.

“It’s to do with an appearance fee which, I think, every country pays their players. That is what it is about. It’s not about any reward or bonus.

“What I can say about Ghanaians, our mentality is somehow different. When it comes to wearing the national colour and needing to defend it.

“The issues of money, or other issues, don’t come into it. That is how it has been for some years now. I know the mentality of the players, nothing would demoralise them.”

Please Ghanaians stop crying out loud about beating portugal or qualifying out of the group. Akwasi Appiah is tactically bankrupt. The materials are there, but its utilization. Our match against USA and Germany were all winnable, bad tactical decisions by AA put us in this position. Stop thinking that Germany is going to beat USA…..WHAT A JOKE BY MASCULINE GHANAIANS.

AA i am sorry to what i am going to say to you right now but i think you have failed to demonstrate your preparedness to handle the BS like your fellow coach Keshi has done with the Super Eagles. He stood to his ground and dropped those players in his team who thought they were indispensable and therefore became indiscipline. However, you failed to do same and is suffering the consequence. When we adviced you to drop players who retired but decided to come back when they realised we are about qualifying to the WC like Essien, Muntaria, KPB etc you called yourself a silent killer and never paid heed to the advice. I learnt you have been crying and nearly got beaten by KPB. Now i am sure you have now realised how foolish you have been for allowing those players to be part of your squad. When we said you have lost control of your dressing room you denied. Are you still going to deny this after you were nearly beaten by KPB at the training ground?
