Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah has hailed the improved performance of the Black Stars’ medical team ahead of the 2014 World Cup.

The Black Stars trainer named his provisional squad for June’s finals in Brazil at a press conference on Monday.

Appiah dropped heavyweights Isaac Vorsah and John Mensah who have failed to prove their fitness for the World Cup.

Several reports of injured players emerged from Ghana’s failed attempt to win the Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa last year.

Team doctor Baba Adamu came under intense media scrutiny over his handling of injury issues – in particular that of Richmond Boakye Yiadom and Anthony Annan - in the Black Stars camp.

But coach Kwesi Appiah says Dr. Adamu has boosted his performance since the Nations Cup debacle.

“We all make mistakes but since then the work rate of the doctor has been really impressive,” Appiah said during his presentation of the 26-man squad on Monday.

“I have been very much impressed with his work. He now does things that he used not to.”

Ghana will begin non-residential camping towards the World Cup on May 20 in Accra.

The Black Stars will then move camp to Rotterdam where four days later they will engage the Netherlands in a friendly before completing their preparations in the USA.
