Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan has revealed he is not thinking about of becoming Africa’s top scorer in the history of the FIFA World Cup at this year’s finals in Brazil.

The 28 year old has scored four goals in two World Cup appearances; one less than Africa’s top scorer Cameroon legend Roger Milla.

Gyan will get another opportunity to write his name in the world cups records book at this year’s world cup.

He scored 29 goals for his UAE side Al Ain in the just ended season and also leads the Asian Champions League chart with 10 goals.

But despite beckoning history Gyan says his focus is helping Ghana go one step better than they did in South Africa.

“I have always said that it’s not about Asamoah Gyan, it’s about the nation Ghana,” he told GHANASoccernet.com

“I have always given my best to Ghana and if I do not score at the world cup and someone else does and Ghana qualifies I will be more than happy.

“We go as a team and the moment we start thinking of ourselves we deviate from the core aim of Ghanaians.”

Gyan is Ghana’s all-time third highest scorer with 39 goals in 77 appearances.
