Ghana legend Reverend Osei Kofi has kicked against a proposal that will see Black Stars players bring along their wives and girlfriends to the World Cup tournament in Brazil.
Teamà psychologist Professor Joseph Mintah has submitted a proposal to the Ghana FA requesting for such a move.
Research has confirmed that the players could start agitation because of the absence of their spouses after 21 days of being away from their families.
But former Asante Kotoko great Reverend Osei Kofi believes it will be a misplaced priority if the proposal is approved.
ââ¬ÅI donââ¬â¢t see the need for that. What is the sense in sending wives and girlfriends to Brazil? For them to go there and do what? he asked
ââ¬ÅWe should be concerned with many important issues and leave this one.
ââ¬ÅAre we saying players cannot stay away from sex for six weeks? That is a big joke.
ââ¬ÅAnd so if their wives and girlfriends are there, that will make them win games or what?
ââ¬ÅLook if it is allowed, it will spiral out of control. Already some of them do it when it has not been sanctioned and so what is the point in making it official? I donââ¬â¢t get it.ââ¬
The debate in Ghana has been sparked by the recent revelation by Nigeria coach Stephen Keshi that he will allow his married players to bring their wives to the teamââ¬â¢s camp but barred girlfriends from joining the Super Eagles in Brazil in June.
