AC Milan ace Michael Essien has praised the Ghana Football Association for including ex-captain Stephen Appiah his the Black Stars backroom staff for the World Cup.

Essien, who has described Appiah as the most technically complete Ghanaian player, believes his vast experience will be key for the team in Brazil.

“I just found out some few weeks ago that Appiah will be in camp with us and I must say that was a smart one from the FA,” the former Chelsea player said.

“His experience at this stage cannot be under estimated. I have had the opportunity to play alongside him and he is so inspirational am looking forward to seeing him drive us on.”

Appiah, a former Juventus star, captained Ghana to her first ever World Cup finals appearance in Germany 2006.

He played a cameo when the Black Stars reached the quarter-final at the last edition in South Africa four years ago.
