On-fire Ghana attacker David Accam is happy to gatecrash Ghana’s provisional squad for the 2014 World Cup and is ready to fight for a place in the final 23-man squad.

The 23-year-old was named by Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah in a 26-man squad to justify themselves for 23 places available for Brazil on Monday afternoon and the Helsingborg talisman is grateful for his calling but insists he will fight for his place in the squad.

“It’s amazing to be called back into the national. I’m happy for that and I’m coming to give my best and work hard to make the team,” he told GHANAsoccernet.com exclusively.

The Helsingborg IF ace is among 18 FIFA World Cup debutants named in the Ghana squad on Monday and must fight to secure a berth in the final team for Rio.

Accam, whose versatility in attack allows him to play on either sides of the wings and also leads the attack, has bagged 6 league goals for Helsingborg in the Swedish Allsvenskan and 6 more goals to propel the REDs to the final of the Swedish FA Cup.

His strike on Monday night took his season’s tally to 12 in 13 outings and he is thrilled with his performance on the day he was named in Ghana’s squad.

“It’s amazing to get the call-up from Ghana and score the winning goal for my team today. That makes it even special,” he added in a chat with GHANAsoccernet.com.

i think the media had really done a good job in campaigning for you….there’s no single day that you’ll not read a story on this guy on ghanasoccernet,i wonder how much you paid them not to talk of playing in micky mouse league like the swidish league.

What are you talking about? Was Warris not in the same league when they called him?
What do you want the sports writers to do if the guy scores in almost every game he plays. I think it time you change your mind about him because he could be a factor in the stars set up in brazil, bro.

AA should drop Albert Adoma, he is a waste of space in the team. Guys If you want to make a genuine money online whatsapp me now on 0247212030. This is more than real. We will not leave anyone behind.

  3. Mumbi says:

The whole squad is useless. AA has left out active players like Rebecca Boateng, Mary Appiah and Patricia Asamoah. Ghana are the whipping boys in that group.

  4. rick says:

adomah, inkoom and rashid are going home, and for accam if u doubt his potential go watch him on utube, AA brought Atsu to de team not cos of wat he watched him do but cos he noticed his potential on utube. Today Atsu has been tagged as one of de best players in our team. Accam is on fire, I thought he was enjoying media hype, but I monitored his two matches n de guy is serious

    • McKwame says:

Great point. I personally feel this Accam dude paired with Gyan will do great at the World Cup. The dude has better control and can probably out pace Gyan and Jordan.

  6. vugison says:

Guys do u tink dat,it will be unwise for Essien to be among the three players that will be dropped by Dr Akwasi Appiah on the 31st of May…?

  8. baffour says:

I think Schlup and Accam have earned their place in this team on merit… talking about league standards, can we compare the Ghana league to the Swedish league? certainly not, but we still look out for local players in the team. no media house has campaigned for any player, Accam is always in the news and even on Manchester united ‘s radar

  9. risky says:

If Accam was an European, he would be playing in the top leagues of Europe by now. He is far better than most of the English n other European players in the BPL.

  10. I Came (Accam) says:

    Players to be dropped

Jordan Ayew: Indiscipline and out of form
Albert Adomah: he is not impressive
Dede Ayew: Overhyped n Accam will expose him big time. He can dribble n keep possession without falling. He doesn’t have the talent
    Inkoom: shud be relieved
