Ex-Manchester United Africa chief scout Tom Vernon claims David Accam’s exceptional qualities put him above many, many Ghanaian players at the moment.

The 23-year-old, who plays for Helsingborg is keen to make Ghana’s World Cup squad after blistering run in the Swedish top-flight.

The former Right to Dream Academy graduate has hit the right code at the right time, with just less than two months left for the start of the global showpiece in Brazil.

Vernon believes Accam’s special qualities will aid the Black Stars immensely if he manages to gatecrash the squad.

“I think if you look at the options for Ghana going forward, He (Accam) offers something which you can’t really say any of the other players offer,” he told the Accra-based Power FM.

“What you want is different solutions to the problem that you face. So when you look at the attacking players that you have on the bench, you don’t want two guys who can do the same thing for you.

“From what I see, there’s not a player in Ghana at the moment who can do the things that Accam can do.

“That’s not to say that he’s one of the best players, but his skills are unique and he’s showing that in Sweden at the moment.

“The Swedish league is not the biggest league and that’s maybe working against him a little bit but he’s managing to impact almost every week and that’s the key.

He has scored seven goals in all competition for Helsingborg this season.
