German-born midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng says he could not sleep the night before he played for Ghana against Germany at the 2010 World Cup but insists the Black Stars will exert themselves more when the two sides clash against in Brazil in June.

The Schalke star, who played for the German youth national team before switching nationality to play for the country of his father, revealed he was emotional the night before he played against his country of birth.

Boateng thinks the Black Stars will exert themselves more when they clash with Germany at the 2014 World Cup insisting they have put the defeat the Black Stars suffered at the hands of the Europeans in 2010 behind them.

The 27-year-old was part of the squad that played against the German at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa with his brother Jerome playing for the European country.

On that ocassion Germany defeated Ghana 1-0 in their group clash but Boateng says things will be different at the tournament in Brazil.

“As for the World Cup game, my first match against Germany four years ago was very emotional. I didn’t sleep the night before,” he told FIFA Weekly.

“A lot of things were happening in my life at that time.

“Now things are different. I’m really looking forward to the match, and as underdogs, we want to pull off an upset.” he said.

Ghana will play Germany on 21 June.
