King Faisal president Alhaji Karim Gruzah has praised Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah for naming what he describes as a ââ¬Ëformidableââ¬â¢ pre-World Cup squad.
Appiah made three surprise calls in Jeff Schlupp, David Accam and promising youngster Afriyie Acquah in his 26-man squad for next monthââ¬â¢s tournament in Brazil.
Veteran campaigners John Mensah and Anthony Annan were casualties after being heavily tipped to make a return to the team after months of absence.
Gruzah says the decision to include only active players shows the ex-Ghana captain a lot of guts and deserves commendation.
ââ¬ÅThe squad is very good and couldnââ¬â¢t have been any better,â⬠Grusah told GHANASoccernet.com
ââ¬ÅThis is the best we have in our country and he couldnââ¬â¢t have been more spot on. My advice to the media is to be unbiased and throw their support behind the coach so we all have the success we desire.
ââ¬ÅI have been hugely pressed by his decision to call up this squad and the team I must say looks a formidable one.ââ¬
Ghana will now play a friendly game with a locally assembled side on 23 May before they emplane to Rotterdam or a residential camping.
The Black Stars will face Holland on 31 May and will next to the United States the next day to continue preparations.
