2014 World Cup: Brazil coach approves 'non-acrobatic' sex for his players, Ghana undecided
Brazil coach Luiz Felipe Scolari has approved non acrobatic sex for his players during during the World Cup in June but Ghana are still undecided over allowing the WAGS to join the Black Stars camp.
While approving sex for his players, Scolari warned his players he will not tolerate anything too energetic in the bedroom during the tournament, as he is concerned about his players getting injured in the bedroom.
Ghanaians are divided over whether the wives and girlfriends (WAGs) should join the Black Stars camp in Brazil with many insisting that it would distract the focus of the players from the task ahead.
Sex bans are occasionally imposed by some teams heading to major tournaments in a bid to prevent unforeseen injuries and heighten focus.
But 2002 World Cup winner Big Phil is only allowing a specific yet unspecificed type of sexual intercourse.
The pressure on Brazil to succeed on home soil could scarcely be more intense, and Scolari, who masterminded their last World Cup win in 2002, was asked at a press conference in Portugal what his view was on sex during the tournament.
And he gave a fantastic answer:
“The players can have normal sex during the World Cup. Usually normal sex is done in balanced way, but there are certain forms, certain ways and others who do acrobatics. And that, no,” Scolari replied at a press conference in Lisbon on Monday.
“We will put limits and survey the players.”
So close the Kama Sutra, Thiago Silva. No diving in the bedroom, Neymar. Rules are rules.
This advice seemed like fair, if odd, until Scolari hinted they will be attempting to monitor the players extracurricular activities, which seems as difficult as it is creepy.
Ronaldo, the top scorer and hero of that tournament did not enjoy the experience:
“The manager would tell us that any player who cannot control his penis is not a man, but an irrational animal,” Ronaldo said.
“The World Cup in 2002 was a wonderful memory but I will always remember the ache down below just as much as lifting the trophy.”
The mere presence of wives and girlfriends at major tournaments is a perennial talking point.
England fans will still remember the reaction to their WAGs’ presence in Baden-Baden during the 2006 World Cup, which was labelled by the British press at the time as a “circus.”
Yes, the idea of players bringing their girlfriends or wives along to the world’s biggest tournament has been ‘hotly’ debated for decades.
Could they be a distraction to the players, perhaps even “tire” them out ahead of the games? Or would a little “stress relief” actually be beneficial? You know, clear the mind among other things. These are excellent questions that every national team manager has had to address. For six weeks the Black Stars will be without sex if they are not allowed to send their WAGs?
