Aduana Stars goalkeeper Stephen Adams is delighted after being named in Ghana’s provisional squad for the 2014 World Cup.

The shot-stopper is the only locally-based player named in the 26-man squad announced on Monday.

The 24-year-old has been rewarded for his excellent display at this year’s CHAN tournament and has cemented his place in the final 23-man squad after only three goalkeepers were named in the squad.

Adams has been left thrilled with the opportunity to represent his country at the biggest football stage in the world.

“I am very happy and taken things easy,” he said

“God has been good to me and I’m glad I’m in the squad. It’s now the chance for me to justify my inclusion in the team.

“I’m training hard to ensure I can step into the plate when the chance comes.”
