2013 Nations Cup disappointment behind us - Daniel Agyei

Ghana goalkeeper Daniel Agyei insists he and his colleagues have put their 2013 Nations Cup disappointment behind them and focused on this month’s World Cup qualifier against Sudan.

The Black Stars, touted as one of the huge favourite for the title flattered to deceive as they could only placed a disappointing fourth in South Africa.

The players came under massive criticism from local fans for their failure to win the much-needed crown at the continental showpiece.

With a crucial World Cup qualifier against Sudan looming, the Liberty Professionals man insists the players have put their disappointment behind them to win massively against their opponent.

“We were all disappointed because we couldn’t  win the title, but those are behind us now,” Agyei told Radio XYZ

“We’re focused on the crucial World Cup qualifiers. Every Ghanaian wants to see us in Brazil and so we’re determined to ensure we don’t disappoint them again.

“The World Cup is our goal now and so we should forget about what happened in South Africa and forge ahead.”

The Ghanaians are trailing 2012 African champions Zambia by three points and must negotiate their remaining four games to advance to the play-offs.

I wasn’t disappointed in the last CAF because we didn’t win the title. I was disappointed because we did not play well at all despite all the help from referees and CAF. God save us from this tactically blind coach and selfish GFA.

  2. bbc says:

My brother this black stars trophy less for 31 years will never be behind any player until you deliver the nation’s cup sooner rather than later. You guys are just playing to earn a living to killing yourself for any honor. GFA watch out cos we are dying to see a trophy.

  4. black gold says:

31 yrs goin, den 32 , 33 , 34 till eternity an u still claim to be power house in africa. pls ghanians humble ur sef.bring ur sef down let God bring u up. jus copy the naija model

  5. Anokwale says:

I think his attitude is correct. We cannot dwell on the AFCON. We simply were not good enough. It is time to focus on winning this qualifying group in order to get to the next and final stage of qualifying. If you finish fourth in AFCON, you should have the confidence to feel you can qualify at the World Cup. What happened at AFCON is not the end of the World.

  6. SNOW DEMON says:

FOOLISH COACH USELESS PLAYERS. WE SHALL BURN YOUR HOUSES IF U FAIL. WE NEED FOOD AND WATER AND NOT WC PARTICIPATION
